𝐢𝐱. Life in the Volturi

I think life in the Volturi isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I think it's even fun if you're an academic or an artist because the Volturi is known to be the Nighttime Patron of the Arts.

They got Francesco Solimena, an Italian baroque painter, to paint a portrait of them, and they were painted as gods because of their beauty. I feel like they hosted more artists in their castle, and the artists came out as better artists than before they entered Volterra. They value every form of art and artists who have potential. We can also set that as an example of why the three kings are so keen on having every vampire with a powerful gift.

The Volturi isn't a villain as the Cullens make them out to be. Of course, they are villains in their perspective because they literally wanted to kill Bella. Still, I think everyone forgot that they wanted to kill Bella because they didn't want a human to know or potentially expose their secrets. The Cullens literally broke the law, and they did that knowingly.

The Volturi's laws are reasonable. Let us be fucking for real for a second. Their laws make sense. Let us all recall the laws that are passed to every vampire by word of mouth:

1. Hunts must be inconspicuous, with victims unlikely to be missed; their remains must be disposed of and territory must be changed often.

2. Incapable of self-control, and therefore a threat of exposure, immortal children are not to be created. Such creation is the ultimate taboo and punishable by death to both child, creator, those who defend the child and those who know of its existence.

3. Dealing with Children of the Moon, except for the purpose of extermination, is prohibited.

4. False witness, regardless of intent, is punishable by death.

5. Hunting is forbidden in Volterra, the town of residence of the Volturi; their food is brought from outside, sometimes from quite far away.

6. Attention should not be drawn and vampires should not be noticed in open sunlight.

7. The creator is responsible for his newborn's behavior and teaching of the laws before they can be released on their own. By letting a newborn hunt conspicuously, the penalty will be death to both newborn and creator. Even if the newborn is ignorant of the law, his rash acts are still punishable by death.

8. Vampires' interaction with humans must not draw wide attention. If a human becomes aware of them, the vampire at fault would be responsible for silencing that human. This mostly leads to two options: make the human join the immortals or silence that human permanently. As long as attention isn't drawn widely so that prompts the Volturi's involvement, they may never find out.

The only thing unreasonable about the Werewolves is that even that makes sense because Vampires and Werewolves are natural enemies. Even the immortal children make sense because, look at what happened to the Denali sister's leader, Sasha; Vasilli couldn't control his thirst and temper because he's a child, and he literally murdered an entire village.

An immortal child is a threat to their exposure. They did what they had to do to protect their secret. They didn't even involve Tanya, Kate, and Irina for Sasha's fault. They are reasonable because the sisters know nothing of what Sasha did. So why should they suffer the same fate as their creator? That's why the three kings spared the sisters. Even Kate respected them because the laws are laws, and Sasha broke the law.

Like the laws make sense. Discretion, secrecy, and discipline. Is that really too much to ask? For me, no. If you want humans to discover vampires and start a vampire hunt. Then no, the Volturi's laws are literally the bare minimum.

They're doing the whole vampire community a favor.

They dealt with the Southern Vampire Wars because the coven wars are drawing too much attention to the humans that a simple disease can't simply cover up the number of dead bodies. They dealt with vampires who threatened to expose them to humans. Like they're keeping the vampire community safe and hidden from humans because humans fear what they can't explain.

Of course, they are not the perfect vampire government; they also have flaws. I'm not dismissing that, but let's be honest, is there really a perfect governance? No. The Volturi is as good as it gets.

For example, the murder of Werewolves that caused the species's extinction—we can blame Caius's paranoia and beef with that. Aro killed his sister, Didyme, so she and Marcus couldn't leave the Volturi. Aro collects unique vampires. Aro's weird bond with the Witch twins, Alec and Jane. Aro eliminates covens that threaten his power, like the Romanian Coven. Their flaws are really from the inside, not the outside. So it isn't anyone's business unless they make it their business.

I think life in the Volturi is what the wealthy and powerful live. Extravagant and luxurious. Treated like gods and angels. I mean, they don't even go out to hunt. The tourists enter the castle and get trapped like that's so easy; the prey goes to the hunter without a single effort.

We're talking old-money extravagance, gothic opulence, and the kind of wealth so ancient it doesn't even try to show off—because it knows it's above you. Every inch of the palace screams ancient wealth. We're talking centuries-old Italian architecture, marble floors polished to perfection, and towering ceilings lined with intricate frescoes. Corridors stretch endlessly, each one leading to rooms filled with priceless art, massive chandeliers dripping with crystals, and silk-draped archways. Velvet, silk, and leather everywhere. Everything feels rich, indulgent, and untouched by time, from the blood-red drapes to the hand-carved mahogany furniture. Massive library lined with ancient books—many of which don't exist outside these walls.

Every day is a spectacle. Always prepared for a banquet. Pure decadence.

Since they are academic and studious vampires, they are better than the rest, and they know it. I feel like they definitely know something that the rest of the world is oblivious to. Other worlds and dimensions? Timelines? They know it. That's why Aro backed the fuck out when Alice showed him her vision because Aro absolutely knows it's a possibility, and he would not take that chance.

While Twilight vampires believe that there are only three kinds of supernatural creatures in their world (Vampires, Shifters, and Werewolves), The Volturi knows with certainty that they are not the only supernatural creatures that exist. That's why they are also so hellbent on keeping vampires a secret to EVERYONE.

I absolutely believe that they know hybrids exist. I know they have a special section about it in their big extravagant library. They tried to keep it hidden from the vampire world. I also believe that they also tried to make a hybrid but failed; imagine having a hybrid in their ranks? They wanted that, but their experiments weren't successful. (or maybe they have a hybrid and they're hiding them.)

The kings have lived for thousands of years and are even older than the Mikaelsons.

Do you believe they know nothing about that in the years they existed? The Volturi thrived in knowing secrets, exposing secrets, and using secrets to their benefit. They know hybrids exist. They just used Renesmee as a reason to eliminate the Cullens because Aro still holds a grudge that Carlisle left them, LOL.

I absolutely believed that they even predicted the evolution of humankind. What the world would be like in 100 years. Industrial revolution? The end of monarchies? Technology? They know that. Every possible conspiracy theory? They know that maybe even instigated some of it.

They're not as old school as everybody likes to think. They just show that they're old school, but that's part of their deception.

You can't possibly underestimate the knowledge of the three kings that's 3,000 years old, c'mon.

The Volturi may be a villain to the Cullens and other vampires, but many of the vampires that the Cullens recruited as their witnesses didn't even want to face the Volturi. Jasper Whitlock even respects the Volturi's ruling, especially since he first handedly experienced it during the Southern Vampire Wars. He knows how ruthless they are and how the Volturi urges secrecy. And Jasper respects that.

Some of the witnesses only want to overthrow the Volturi so that someone new could rule, but then again, no one can rule as well as the Volturi.

Romanian Coven?

Nah, humans would have discovered vampires already if they ruled; the Romanian Coven didn't give a fuck if humans learned about them because they let humans worship them, AND know that they're vampires.

Carlisle wouldn't even consider ruling.

So why not hand the job to who actually wants to do it and has thousands of years of ruling experience?

For me, the Volturi isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. But in a story there's always a villain and the Volturi just happen to be the perfect subject.
