FORTY

"Oh, no! Oh, it's gone. Geez, I don't know how...where it went."

----------

"Hey." Joey and Chandler walked into Monica and Rachel's apartment.

"Hey." Phoebe, Monica, and I greeted them.

"Ooh, look at you fancy lads." Phoebe said to them in a British accent. "What's the occasion?" She handed me a cup of coffee.

"You know the guy in show that's in a coma? He's having a brunch." He leaned against the back of my chair. The others didn't seem to take note of it, but Monica looked at us with a smile.

"Ready when you are." Rachel stepped out of her room.

"Alright." Phoebe and I stood up to put our cups and plates into the sink.

"I can't believe you guys are getting tattoos." Monica shook her head.

"Excuse me. You guys are getting tattoos?" Chandler crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow specifically at me.

"Chandler, you can't tell me what to do." I whined like I used to when we were younger. He held his hands up in surrender.

"You cannot tell Ross 'cause I want to surprise him." Rachel answered.

"Wow. This is so wild." Joey chuckled. "W–What are you guys going to get?" He looked up at me with a smile that made me melt.

"Um, I'm getting a lily." Phoebe spoke up. "For my mom. 'Cause her name is Lily." She poured some milk into her coffee. "I'm probably just going to get it on my shoulder."

"Wow, that's lucky. What if her name was 'Big Ugly Splotch'?" Chandler took a sip of his juice.

"And Suparna? What are you going to get, ba—best friend?" Joey caught himself.

"I was just going to get some initials with a heart around it." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Aww!" Monica exclaimed when she heard me. I looked down at my fingers and misled to myself.

"Maybe I should get a tattoo, too." He quickly stood up. "Right on my bicep or on my shoulder." He flexed for me.

"What? What's on your shoulder?" Ross came walking into the  apartment.

"A c–chip." Joey stuttered out. "A tattoo. I'm getting a tattoo." He admitted.

"A tattoo? Why would you want to do that?" Ross inquired. Then, he greeted Rachel with a kiss.

"You don't think they're kind of cool?" She played with the collar of his shirt.

"No. Sorry, I don't." He shook his head. "I mean, why would anyone pay someone to scar their body for life? And what if it doesn't come out right, Joe? Then it's like having a bad haircut all the time." We all turned back to look at him. "Why is everyone staring at me?"

"Ross, come sign this birthday card for Dad. Richard's going to be here any minute." She called him over to her.

"Ooh, Richard's going to the party, too?" Chandler smirked.

"He's my parents' best friend. He has to be there." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Is today the day you're going to tell them about you two?" Joey winked at her.

"Yeah, 'cause for my dad's birthday, I decided to give him a stroke." She replied snakily. "Guys, I don't even know how serious he is about me. Until I do, I'm not telling them anything." She finished up the birthday card.

"I don't think Mom and Dad would mind. Remember when you were 9 and Richard was 30 how Dad used to say, 'God, I hope they get together'?" Ross replied sarcastically. Joey quickly got a tattoo before heading out with my brother. I didn't even get to see it.

"Brunette girl, you're in room 2. Blonde girl, room 2. Not–so–blonde girl, you're with me." One of the tattoo artists said to us.

"Good luck, guys." I kissed their cheeks before heading into my room. A big guy was sitting in a chair by the table I'd have to lay down on.

"What can I get for you?" He smiled at me with kind eyes.

"There's this guy I've been dating for almost a year now, and he just came in earlier for a tattoo." I started, but the tattoo artist held a hand up.

"Italian man, the guy who plays Drake Ramoray on Days of our Lives. You want the same exact thing, don't you?" He asked me. I nodded my head sheepishly.

"Where did he get it?" I questioned him.

"One on the arm and one on his wrist." He answered. He got two?

"I'll take both." I smiled. "Wait! Could you show me what they were?" He let out a rough chuckle and took out the drawings. My heart practically stopped when I saw them. The one on his arm was a heart with 'J.T. + S.B.' in a curly font inside a heart. And the one on his finger was just my first name surrounded by angel wings and an infinity as a halo. "Alright I'll take both, but for the second one, could I get a sandwich instead of the infinity sign and could it be right under my boob?" Honestly, I had never thought about this beforehand.

"Sure." He nodded his head.

"And I'll take a moon on my finger so I have something to show my friends. None of our friends really know that we're dating." I chuckled nervously.

"Don't worry. I won't tell. And Mr. Tribbiani got a sun as well." He winked at me and smiled before getting to work. Since I had so many tattoos, I was the last one to step out of my room. I caught up with Rachel and Phoebe.

"What took you so long?" They looked back at me.

"Oh, I couldn't think of what I wanted to get. And I was talking to the tattoo artist." I responded. Rachel was the first to show us her tattoo right on her hip.

"It looks so good, Rach!" I complimented the small red heart.

"God, I love it." Phoebe let out.

"I know, so do I. I'm so glad we did this. Your turn, Suparna." She bumped my hip. I showed them the small moon on the side of my right ring finger.

"What do you guys think?" I bit my lip a little.

"My God, how adorable!" Rachel grabbed my hand to take a closer look.

"Very artsy." Phoebe bumped my hip.

"Let's see yours, Pheebs." Rachel and I jumped up and down excitedly.

"Uh...okay, let's see both of yours again." She giggled.

"Phoebe, we just saw mine. Let us see yours." I crossed my arms over my chest, but I pressed against the tattoo under my boob by against, making me wince in pain.

"Oh, okay." She pulled down the shoulder of her shirt. "Oh, no! Oh, it's gone. Geez, I don't know how...where it went." She looked at the two of us.

"You didn't get it?" Rachel asked her.

"No." Phoebe shook her head while scrunching up her eyes.

"Why didn't you get it?" I groaned.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She cried.

"How could you do this to us, Phoebe? This was all your idea." Rachel pouted.

"I know, I know. I was going to get it, but then he came in with this needle. Did you two know they do this with a needle?" She looked between us.

"Really? You don't say." Rachel and I shared a look. "Because ours were licked on by kittens!" Before I met up with Joey, the three of us walked into Monica's apartment to see her and Richard making out.

"Did you get it? Let's see!" Monica pulled away and clapped her hands.

"Is Ross here?" Rachel asked while hanging up her coat.

"No, he went out to get some pizza." Monica replied.

"Alright. Really quick, okay?" Rachel pulled her waistband to show off the little heart.

"That's great." Monica exclaimed in surprise.

"Very tasteful." Richard nodded his head.

"Here's mine." I showed off the moon on my finger.

"How cute." Monica cheered.

"Nice." Richard gave me a smile.

"Thanks, you guys. I'm going to show this off to my brother and Joey." I smiled before heading out of the apartment. I walked into the guys' apartment only for Chandler to walk right out. "Do you want to see my tattoos?" I giggled.

"As in more the one? Did you get the same ones I got?" He took my hands into his.

"I got the heart with our initials." I rolled up my sleeve. "I got a moon on my finger." I showed him the moon on my ring finger. "And...I got your name with angel wings and a sandwich instead of a halo." I smiled.

"Where is it then?" He looked around my body. I quickly locked the door and rolled up my shirt to show him the tattoo under my boob.

"Like it? I decided to get it in a spot where you would one see." I pulled him in for a kiss.

"You know, I'm never going to be able to keep my hands off of you knowing that's there." He winked at me. The next day, we were helping Joey pack since he was moving.

"Hey, you guys are still going to come visit me, right?" Joey looked at the rest of us.

"Oh, yeah. You got the big TV. We'll be over there all the time." Ross replied with a chuckle before looking at my brother. "Except when we are here."

"I know you're just moving uptown, but I'm really going to miss you." Phoebe said sadly.

"How can you not be across the hall anymore?" Monica pouted.

"Yeah, who's going to eat all our food and...tie up all the phone lines and..." Rachel whined. "Is that my bra?" She lifted it up.

"It's not what you think. We used it to fling water balloons off the roof." Joey chuckled. "Do you remember that? Those junior high kids couldn't even get theirs across the street."

"Yeah, I remember." Chandler nodded his head.

After a couple moments of silence, Ross spoke up. "Hey, let's bring the rest of these down to the truck." We each carried a box to give the two roommates some time alone.

"Just remember...you're always welcome at our apartments." I kissed his cheek and hugged him, tears threatening to spill. I picked up the last box and headed out the door.
