SEVENTY FOUR

"If I had to, I'd pee on any one of you!"

----------

"Great. Joey, I can barely walk now." I gripped onto the wall as I sat down on our bed.

"That's my job, baby." He wrapped an arm around my waist and let me lean on him for support.

"Um, I do have one other surprise for you." I reached over to grab my bag, but Joey kindly got it for me. I pulled out my little pack of pills and handed it to him.

"What's this?" He furrowed his brows.

"I'm...I think I'm ready to get off of my birth control pills." I blushed slightly. "I know we aren't married or even engaged, but if you're not ready, I totally understand. I just thought I should let you know." I played with my hands.

"Are you sure you're ready? I mean, I don't want to force you into anything either." He tilted my chin up.

"I don't think I've ever been this ready for something in my entire life." I let out a shaky chuckle.

"Okay. Okay, let's do it." He kissed my temple.

"But I think we should keep using condoms until we both get tested for STDs." I thought out loud.

"Sounds like a great idea." He agreed.

"And if the condom breaks...we could become parents." He stared into my eyes.

"I love you." I placed my right hand on his cheek.

"I love you, too." He pulled me in for a deep and sensual kiss. We headed out to the kitchen where Monica and Chandler were hanging out.

"Shoot. We're out of soda." Monica shut the refrigerator door.

"I'll go out and get you some." Chandler stood up from the dining table.

"Really?" She asked him hopefully.

"Nope! 'Cause I'm not your boyfriend." He clapped once before sitting back down.

"Hey." Phoebe came in.

"Pheebs, how did it go?" Monica asked her.

"Well...my mom's friend Phoebe is actually my birth mom." She admitted.

"I found a dried–up seahorse." Chandler held it up.

"Sweetie, what are you talking about?" I furrowed my brows.

"Oh, my new mom who's a big, fat abandoner." She cursed.

"Wait a second, Pheebs. Don't you want to stay here and talk about it?" Joey suggested.

"No. I want...I need to be alone." She headed upstairs. "Suparna! Monica!" She whisper–yelled at us.

"Right. Sorry." The two of us rushed over to her. The next day, Chandler, Monica, Joey, and I were at the beach. Joey was playing in the sand while the three of us soaked under the sun.

"Alright, there's a nuclear holocaust. I'm the last man on earth. Would you go out with me?" Chandler asked Mon.

"You're telling me Joey's gone?" I propped myself up on my elbows.

"Fine. There's a nuclear holocaust. Joey and I are the last men on earth, and Joey's taken by Suparna. Would you go out with me?" He repeated his question.

"Eh." She let out.

"I've got canned goods." He sat up and said, making Monica giggle.

"Hey, guys, take a look at this." Joey called out to us. Chandler, Monica, and I went over to him. "Dug me a hole." He declared proudly.

"Excellent hole, Joe." Chandler complimented him.

"Oh, no! My hole!" He exclaimed when a tide came in, and his hole filled with water.

"Ow! Ow!" Monica suddenly exclaimed and jumped up and down on one foot while holding the other. Joey immediately got out of his hole.

"What is it?" Chandler asked her, accidentally hitting me in the process.

"Shit!" I gasped as my ankle gave out from underneath me when I fell into the hole.

"Jellyfish sting! It hurts, it hurts!" She cried out.

"Get me out of here!" I winced in pain. Joey grabbed my arms and pulled me into his grasp. "I think I'm fine." I tried to take a step, but my ankle gave out again. "Nevermind." I groaned. Joey picked me up in his arms and carried me bridal style.

"Can we help you? Do you want us to take you back to the house?" Chandler asked her.

"It's like two miles!" She shouted at him.

"And I'm a little tired from digging the hole." Joey added.

"The hole that made me hurt my ankle?" I wrapped my arms around his neck for support.

"Yeah." He chuckled nervously.

"Damn the jellyfish! Damn all the jellyfish!" Monica cursed while pointing at the ocean.

"We've got to do something." Chandler helped her stand while Joey held me closer into him.

"There's only one thing you can do." He sighed.

"What? What is it?" Monica questioned him.

"You have to pee on it." Joey nodded his head.

"What?" Chandler and I looked up at him at the same time.

"Gross!" Monica grimaced.

"Don't blame me. I saw it on The Discovery Channel." He defended himself.

"You know what? He's right. There's something like ammonia in that that kills the pain." Chandler nodded.

"Forget it. It doesn't hurt that...bad!" She screamed.

"If you want some privacy, you can use my hole." Joey offered. She went inside the hole and tried to...on her sting, but she couldn't reach it.

"Joey, put me down. Gently." I asked him. He did, and I limped into the hole. After I tried, it didn't work. Joey did as well, but only Chandler's...seemed to work. We went back to the house with an awkward silence looming over the four of us. Joey had to carry me since me ankle was still throbbing.

"What happened?" Phoebe asked us.

"Nothing." Monica answered monotonously.

"I'm going to take a shower." I blurted out.

"Me, too." Chandler, Monica, and Joey said as we headed upstairs. Once we got home, I just had to wrap my ankle in a bandage wrap for a week. We got home that night and rested. The next day, I headed downstairs to Central Perk for some coffee.

"What the hell happened on that beach?" I heard Ross pose to Joey and Chandler. My eyes widened, and I accidentally gasped aloud. The guys turned around to look at me, and I quickly went to the counter. "Gunther, get me an iced vanilla latte pronto." I requested quietly. Back upstairs, I went over to Monica's apartment for dinner. Of course, it was with Monica, Chandler, and Joey since Ross and Rachel were making out on the balcony, and Phoebe was off visiting her sister. We ate our pasta in silence.

"Pass the cheese, please." Monica requested. Joey looked in the other direction and handed her the bowl. "Oh my God, you can't even look at me, can you?" She sighed.

"Nope." Joey shook his head.

"Hey, it's Phoebe! We can talk to Phone!" Chandler cheered when Phoebe walked in.

"No. I'm too depressed to talk." She walked past us.

"I'll give you $1,000 to talk to us." Chandler offered. Phoebe just grabbed his glass of wine.

"Hey, you guys, what do you think about making that beach trip an annual thing?" Ross suggested as he came back inside with Rachel.

"No!" Joey, Chandler, Monica, and I blurted out simultaneously.

"Alright, what happened out there?" Rachel asked us.

"What? We took a walk. Nothing happened. And I came back with nothing all over me." Monica grabbed her plate and stood up.

"Come on, what happened? Joey?" Ross urged us.

"Fine." Joey stood up.

"No." Monica ran over to him.

"Joey, we swore we'd never tell." I pointed a finger at him.

"They'll never understand." Chandler added.

"Well, we have to say something. We have to get it out. It's eating me alive!" Joey gulped. "Monica got stung by a jellyfish." He started.

"Alright!" Monica caved in. "Alright." She pat Joey's shoulder. "I got stung. Stung bad. I couldn't stand. I...I couldn't walk." We slowly stalked over to the couch.

"We were two miles from the house. I accidentally knocked Suparna over into a hole. We were scared and alone. We didn't think we could make it." Chandler joined Monica's side and put his hands on her shoulders before quickly pulling away.

"I was in too much pain." She stared up at the ceiling.

"And I was tired digging the huge hole." Joey added. "That Suparna felt into." He wrapped an arm around my shoulders, but I moved away from his grasp.

"Then, Joey remembered something." I pointed at him.

"I'd seen this thing on the The Discovery Channel." He began.

"Wait! I saw that." Ross looked up at Joey. "On The Discovery Channel." He nodded his head. "About jellyfish and how if you..." He realized what happened. "Eww!" He scrunched up his face. "You peed on yourself?" He turned to his little sister.

"Eww!" Rachel and Phoebe grimaced.

"You can't say that! You don't know! I mean, I thought I would pass out from the pain." She defended herself. "So I tried...but I couldn't bend...that way." She looked away from the group. "So...Suparna took one for the team." She cleared her throat.

"But I couldn't...because of my ankle...and that stupid hole...and I just...I couldn't do it." I held my face in my hands in embarrassment.

"So...Joey..." Monica trailed off.

"Eww!" Ross, Rachel, and Phoebe looked up at Joey.

"That's right! I stepped up!" Joey stood his ground. "She's our friend, and she needed help." He pointed at Mon. "If I had to, I'd pee on any one of you!" He shot back. "Only, uh...I couldn't...I got stage fright." He looked away. "I wanted to help, but there was just too much pressure so...so I, uh...I turned to Chandler." Chandler let out a muffled scream while he hid his face.

"Joey kept screaming at me 'Do it now! Do it! Do it! Do it now!'" He pointed at Joey. "And Suparna...my poor little sister...she had to watch the entire thing." Chandler pitied me. "Sometimes, late at night...I can still hear the screaming." Joey chuckled slightly at this.

"That's 'cause sometimes, I just do it through my wall to freak you out." Joey confessed and pat Chandler, who steamed in anger. Later that night, Joey and I were laying in my bed after a couple of rounds. "Things are going to go back to normal, right?" He asked me.

"All we can do is hope. But I don't think I'm ever going to be able to look at my brother the same." I sighed.

"Me, too." He agreed.
