Oh, we are all on this together. I'll be damned if I let someone get ostracized for writing in a fandom that they want, WHEN WE'RE ALL GUILTY OF WRITING FANFICS IN PROBLEMATIC FANDOMS/FRANCHISES. If we follow these petty, morally superior standards that ya'll want to instill in everyone.

THEN ALL FANFIC WRITERS IN EVERY PLATFORM ARE EQUALLY HYPOCRITICAL.

If we all agree to stop writing for problematic fandoms, then fanfiction in the first place wouldn't exist. It's like you telling me to stop writing Twilight fics because Smeyer is severely problematic and that I should delete all of my fanfics.

Or saying that we should stop writing fanfiction for TVD because Julie Plec is racist and that most of the actors in that show are zionists. Or stop writing fanfiction for PJO because the author is also a zionist. Or that we should stop writing fanfiction for Stranger Things fics because they also are pro-Israel and support the funding for genocide. Or that we should stop writing DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and HOTD fanfiction because these billion dollar franchises are also known to have problematic ideals. Or stop writing F1 fanfiction because that corporation is extremely problematic.

OR, MOST OF ALL, that we should stop writing fanfics of shows that are created by Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime, CW, and Disney, almost all known streaming platforms and TV networks, because they support and fund the genocide happening in Palestine, or support morally questionable causes.

Then we suddenly draw the line to JKR being against the LGBTQ+ community when the fandom we're writing for is also against POCs????

See how cherry picking and hypocritical that sounds? Do we weigh what's more problematic when ALL of these are problematic in their own ways?

Don't get me started on fic writers here choosing problematic actors as their faceclaims. Suppose you don't know they're problematic or that the actor suddenly voiced out their problematic ideals after you finished your fic. In that case, that's fine; at least you now know and won't be using them any longer. However, if you knew they were problematic and still chose them, that's a different conversation. Or choosing to wrongly fan-cast a POC character as anything but their own ethnicity, then straight up ignoring and not acknowledging your actor/actress's ethnic background in your story.
Because I'll be honest, the fandoms that I listed? WE ALL HAVE THAT IN OUR ACCOUNTS AND CONTINUE TO ENGAGE WITH IT, hence, giving ALL of them a platform.

Why are we hating/bullying fic writers who want to write in the HP fandom? What warrants us to attack them personally and bring them down? When it's their choice to write for it, and if you don't like it. Don't read it. We can make individual choices; you can't force people to believe your beliefs. It doesn't work that way. Even if you're extremely against it, speak up about your beliefs and advocacies, but you cannot enforce it upon people. Even though I had a difficult time accepting this, there are things that I can't change. Because you cannot EVER expect people to cater to your wants and needs, I understand how frustrating that could be.

I fucking hate Sarah J Maas and Colleen Hoover, but I don't start attacking fanfic writers who want to write a fanfic about ACOTAR or attack fan artists who draw for the fandom or their books. ALSO, WE DO FANARTS OR FANFICS TO EXPRESS OUR CREATIVITY.

So stop the fucking witch hunts already, when WE ARE ALL participating in billion-dollar franchises and companies that support morally questionable causes. Don't be a hypocrite and show that you're doing performative activism.

You have a choice whether or not you still want to leave your fic published because you don't support these fandoms, franchises, or corporations that funded or created the media you're consuming, and not interact with these media anymore.

THAT'S YOUR CHOICE AND DECISION ALONE.

You have the right to speak up, but that does not give you the right to attack or police someone for writing for the fandom that they want. You can simply UNFOLLOW, SCROLL, AND BLOCK. VICE VERSA.

All you're doing is limiting someone's creativity and ruining their chance of having fun when we all know we use fanfiction to escape from our real-life problems; fandom spaces are supposed to be our safe space.

The least we could do is acknowledge that the fandoms we're writing for are problematic and not gloss over this. And continue to advocate for and support those whom they have wronged. Choosing to remain ignorant is another conversation.

And with that announcement, I will be taking a hiatus from WP cause these freaking users are high school bullies in adult bodies with a superiority complex that shame minors who didn't even do anything wrong but publish a fanfic in a fandom they wanted to write. LIKE WHERE ALL OF US STARTED.

Y'ALL NEED TO GROW UP AND GO TO THERAPY. These repeated coordinated acts of bullying behavior that come in friend groups/circles while also encouraging your followers to do so IS NOT AND WILL EVER BE OKAY!

Like any sane adult in a FANFIC APP/WEBSITE, I will touch grass and remind myself that people can have fun, and I also can have fun with my fanfiction, and that I don't have to make people agree with me and shade/bully those who don't.

AND I WILL CONTINUE WITH MY HP "WOVEN HEXES" SERIES AND WILL STILL WRITE FANFICS FOR ANY FREAKING FANDOM THAT I WANT, JUST LIKE ALL OF US ARE DOING ON THIS APP.
