014 ★ spy cats gone wrong

The brush snagged on a knot in ( Name's ) hair. She winced, tugged, and then smoothed the strands down with a huff. 

The mirror reflected a fairly ordinary scene: the ( h/c ) girl, bundled in a knit sweater and scarf, cheeks a little flushed from the cold creeping through the window.

The winter months were now here and the weather been getting colder which the Saja Cats did not like at all. During some nights, they huddled or clinged to her and she too cuddled with them as they were like warm, fluffy heat pillows.

Anyways, back to the story...

Ordinary, except for the five cats sprawled across her bed and dresser, staring at her like she'd just announced she was meeting up with their mortal enemies.

... which she was.

" You're really going out? " Jinu asked, voice low, black fur bristling just slightly. She sighed. " Yes, Jinu. I told you already, I'm meeting Rumi, Zoey, and Mira at the market for dinner."

The mere mention of the Huntrix girls made every tail flick, every ear flatten.

Romance rolled dramatically onto his back, paws flopping over his face. " You'd rather spend time with them than your poor, loyal boys? "

Baby scrambled onto the dresser, crouched like he was about to launch at her hairbrush. " What's so special about them, huh? Do they purr? Do they bring you joy every morning? No! We do!"

She raised a brow at him, " By the definition of bringing me joy, like when you ate my VERY expensive and limited-time-only roll cake? "

That made the teal cat scoff in silence, grumbling about something that she didn't hear as she continued to fiddle with her hair.

Abby flexed one paw against the blanket, claws glinting. " I say we barricade the door."

Mystery, perched near the window, only gave a quiet, knowing hum. " She won't be stopped by your idiotic dramatics."

She set the brush down with a soft snap. " You guys are being ridiculous."

"Ridiculously devoted," Romance corrected, his paws latching to her leg now with all the passion of a clingy boyfriend. Baby quickly followed, wrapping his little teal paws around her other calf.

( Name ) huffed, scooping both of them up like misbehaving toddlers. "Off. I'll be fine. You'll survive without me for a few hours."

That's when she spotted it, her phone. Or rather, Mystery sitting directly on it, his lilac-silver fur haloed by the afternoon rays like he'd just won some prize.

"Mystery," she warned, crouching down. "Hand it over."

His eyes glinted. "...No."

"Mystery."

" ... "

( Name ) exhaled through her nose, patience slowly thinning. "...What if I promise extra cuddles tonight?"

His whiskers twitched. The others gasped. " Don't give in, Mystery! " Abby barked.

" She can't bribe you with... " Baby started.

But Mystery silently pawed the phone toward her.

She beamed, planting a kiss right between his ears. "Thank you." He froze, eyes wide, while the rest erupted in outraged protest.

"Not fair!" Romance wailed.

"I want cuddles too!" Baby shouted.

Abby scowled. "This is blatant favoritism."

The ( h/c ) girl ignored them, grabbing her coat. "Food's in your bowls, lights are on timers. Try not to kill each other." With that, she shut the door behind her. 

And five cats immediately turned toward the broken window hatch.

Cold air bit at their fur as they slipped one by one through the narrow gap, paws walking on the icy cold pathway.

"This is insane," Jinu muttered, tail twitching as he took the lead. "But we can't let her wander off with them unsupervised."

"Protect her, you mean," Romance said airily, shaking small snowflakes from his pink fur. "Or prevent her from having too much fun without us."

"Same thing," Abby grumbled.

Baby bounded ahead, leaving pawprints everywhere. "If she buys candied chestnuts and doesn't share, I'll push her favourite mug."

Mystery said nothing, only flicked his ears toward the direction ( Name ) walked.

The crowd was a swirl of scarves, mittens, and shopping bags. Lanterns strung between stalls swayed in the wind, glowing softly against the winter-grey sky.

( Name ) spotted Rumi's vibrant purple hair first, then Zoey's excited face and Mira's tall figure trailing behind. They greeted her with a chorus of warmth, arms linking with hers before she could even adjust her scarf.

The cats, watching from an alley, looked like they'd swallowed lemons.

" They're hugging her," Romance whispered, horrified.

" Linking arms," Abby growled. "Unacceptable."

Jinu tried to calm them. " Stay hidden. We can't... "

But already they were scattering, taking positions like soldiers in enemy territory. Jinu groaned, trying to keep eyes on all of them at once.

Romance sauntered along a row of scarves, pretending to admire the weave like some furred fashionista. That earned coos and looks from the people near him.

Abby leapt onto a crate near the food stalls, scanning for threats ( ...or snacks ). Mystery melted into shadow, unseen. 

Baby ducked under a table stacked with trinkets and goods to sell, eyes darting toward the smell of fried dough. 

Then he froze.

There, just under the edge of one table, sat a plate of fresh hotteok, steaming, golden, and suspiciously unattended.

His yellow eyes glowed. "Don't," Jinu's voice snapped as he headed towards the teal cat, as the others arrived as well.

"Seriously, Baby," Romance added. "A fresh hotteok under a table? That screams trap."

But Baby only smirked and took a massive bite. "Delicious," he mumbled around a mouthful.

The others stared. 

"...He's fine," Abby said after a beat. "Give me one."

One by one, they gave in. Sweetness burst across their tongues, cinnamon sugar clinging to whiskers. For a moment, even their jealousy quieted.

They didn't notice the old woman behind the stall watching with a knowing smile, eyes glimmering as a faint golden glow shimmered from the Korean pancake.

( Name ) was holding a warm bowl of tteokbokki when Zoey leaned in. "Hey, uh... not to freak you out, but... isn't that one of your cats?"

She blinked. "What?"

Zoey pointed toward a crate where Abby's tail flicked too obviously.

The ( h/c ) girl's jaw dropped. Sure enough, teal and pink and black and silver tails were all peeking from hiding spots.

"Oh no," she groaned, storming over. "What are you doing here?!"

All five froze, ears flat, caught red-pawed.

Before ( Name ) could scold further, Zoey squealed. " They followed you? That's so cute! Can they come with us? Please?"

( Name ) pinched the bridge of her nose. " They're... a handful."

Rumi and Mira glanced over, surprised but not opposed.

Zoey was already crouching, arms outstretched. " Come on, kitties!"

The boys exchanged looks of pure horror but couldn't protest aloud without revealing themselves. So they allowed themselves to be scooped, cradled, and fussed over, all while glaring at the ( h/c ) girl for betraying them.

By the time everyone regrouped in the park, arms full of market food, the cats were sulking around her ankles like reluctant bodyguards.

Zoey handed out drinks, Mira divided containers, and Rumi spread a blanket.

( Name ) unwrapped spicy pork skewers, watching the cats nibble bits she snuck under the table. Their glares at the Huntrix girls softened slightly as the food coma set in.

Romance perched near her shoulder, sighing. "At least the view is lovely when you're here."

Abby muttered, mouth full, "Better than letting them steal you away forever." Jinu, ever serious, kept his eyes moving. "Just eat."

Baby licked sugar from his paw smugly.

Mystery, quiet as ever, stayed pressed against your side.

For a few minutes, it was almost... peaceful.

( Names) phone buzzed. She excused herself, stepping toward a tree as the others chattered. The saja cats were watching her form, curious as Jinu managed to sneak away and hide in the bush to listen to the conversation.

It was your grandparents. Their warm voices filled her with fondness as they explained their trip to Japan and asked if she could take care of their house during the winter.

It was a small house by the beach, her grandpa was a fisherman, and her grandma owned a seafood shop in the small town they lived in.

"Of course," she said softly. "And... can I bring the cats?"

They chuckled. "Of course. We'd be happy."

She smiled, then the conversation trailed off to her daily life at the cafe, then to the chaotic stories of her cats. Later on, she thanked them before hanging up.

When she turned back, the scene was cozy: the Huntrix girls laughing over ramen cups, the cats half-dozing on the blanket-covered seats or snuggling to each other for warmth, lantern light painting everything a soft gold.

Jinu walked up next to her, looking down at the black cat. She smiled at him, and he gave his own, cat version of a smile as well. The ( h/c ) girl picked up Jinu in her arms, the demon cat sinking in her arms, sighing at the warmth she had.

But just beyond, an elderly woman leaned against a stall, eyes locked on ( Name ) and Jinu. Her lips curved, and with a subtle wave of her hand, colorful, glowing lines unfurled in the air, an ancient hanmoon circle blooming like frost. The lady stepping into the void before vanishing without a trace.

The ( h/c ) girl and Jinu didn't notice.

🐾 ( name ) and her family used to visit the gransparents home for reunoins or holidays, it went on until the affair hapenned.

🐾 ( name's ) grandparents spoil her and love her since she's one of the only people that makes a effort to visit or at leasts talk to them.

🐾 we are getting closer to the saja boys revealing their human forms to ( name ) :DDD and derpy and sussie will be making their appearance soon as well

🐾 just to note here, the saja boys are not normal cats so they eat human food as well but not too much ( or they get stomach aches or massive food comas )

🐾 ( name ) and huntrix favouite things to do together is go on food dates or activities like trying out new restraunts, markets and even do friends giving as well.

🐾 sorry for the late chapter, been busy lately but hopefully i'll be posting more soon but it'll most likely be slow updates since graduation for me is coming soon.

🐾 watched demon slayer: infinity castle and had to write a fic with of cours k-pop demon hunters in it. hopefully publish it tonight or soon ( along with other kpdh fics chapters as well )
