Monkey D. Garp.
Drake had taken you to the precinct and made you file a report regarding the events that had taken prior to you meeting the ginger haired man.
When you were giving the details of the event, your Gramps, Monkey D. Garp exit his office to see you. He was the captain of this precinct and let's just say it either goes his way, or no way at all.
You only started to call him Gramps because you hang out with Ace and the others too much. And those brats were like brothers to you.
"Gramps!"
You said as you smiled brightly at him. "As energetic as ever, (F/n)." He pat your head before nodding to Drake, he handed over a file of the report to Garp and you could see visible disappointment on his face as he read the report.
"You let him get away?" Garp locked his eyes with the blue eyed man. "I thought you were better than this Detective Diez." Garp boomed at him.
"Forgive me Captain. I will make sure it doesn't repeat." Drake bowed his head in guilt.
It wasn't his fault he got hit in the balls though.
You pouted slightly.
"Why did you let him go anyway? Did he land a blow on your family treasure or something?" Garp said as he took out some rice crackers from his pocket to munch on them as he spoke.
Quite the deduction.
"Well...." Drake's face dusted a pink and you scolded yourself for not having a video camera right now.
Garp let out a booming laugh at the Ginger's expense. "Don't worry, it happens a lot in this line of work!" He continued to laugh again.
"Don't worry about it Drake. The only things important in the bag was my credit card and my phone. I have a spare key underneath the welcome mat and my workplace key is always replaceable." You reassured him.
You knew he blamed himself because that's just the kind of man he is.
Strong, yet kind.
"Then we better call the bank to tell them the circumstances." Drake hurried to take his phone out of his pocket.
"Actually," you placed a hand on his. "I'd rather give Nami a call and tell her that I'm okay. I'm sure she's freaking out right now." You raised your eyebrows and formed your lips in a tight line to get your point across.
Garp nodded and stuffed his mouth with more rice crackers before continuing. "I'll take care of the bank details little one. For now, Drake, make sure she goes home safe okay?"
He gave a soft bow to Garp before the Captain went back into his office.
"Shall we call Nami then?"
Honestly, I don't wanna hear her huge lecture about how I was careless and should have gone home with her.
But if I don't call her now, she might even file a missing complaint.
"Hello?" You were in Drake's car now and you had dialed Nami's number on Drake's phone to call her to tell her that everything was fine. You were riding shotgun with Drake and honestly, for a cop, he has a pretty expensive looking car.
"(F/n)? Is that you? Isn't this Drake's number?" Nami sounds puzzled enough and you didn't feel like explaining but you know you're gonna be in even more trouble if Nami finds out any other way.
After a long while of explaining everything to Nami, she seemed awfully quiet on the other side of the phone, making you worried by the passing second.
"Nami?"
"WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING? YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH ME! I TOLD YOU SO!"
"Yes you did and I'm really sorry, Nami. Please forgive me."
Drake let out a small chuckle at your face because it didn't look apologetic at all.
You playfully glared at him as Nami continued to scold you non stop. "Nami, as much as I love you, I'm a bit tired right now and I'm heading home with Drake so I'll be safe okay? As I said earlier, only my phone and credit card are the important things I lost. Other than that I'm fine. Okay?" You tried to reassure her through the phone.
"Well, okay... If you say so... But I'm chewing your ear out tomorrow when I see you!" You can almost hear her veins popping but you decided not to make a comment about it.
"Okay, I'll see you later then." You hoped she could hear the smile in your voice.
"Diez Drake huh? Sure I'll see you later."
Crap, she's on to me.
"Why did she say my name in that manner?" Drake questioned in suspicion. "Nahh it's probably nothing."
He let out a simple 'huh', shrugged it off and drove out of the the parking lot into the streets.
"Where do you live now?" Drake asked you as he scanned the lane.
There were only just a few vehicles due to being that late in the night and thankfully you can sleep it off because it was an off day tomorrow.
"Uncle Ray's place."
Sure you live with your uncle after coming back from abroad but that man is never home and the house is just as posh as the man himself.
"Still there huh?" You could see a small smile breaking on his full lips.
His full lips that you wanna bite so badl-- JESUS CHRIST! let's not think about that.... YET!
"You still remember the address?"
"Of course I do. There's no way I'd forget." Drake said as he glanced at your direction to give a lopsided smile that made you heart flutter like crazy.
He's still quite the flirt, you were sure he's popular with women of all sorts because of his good looks and built body even back in the high school.
I wonder how that tattoo looks on his more buff body now.
You cracked a small smirk but you quickly dropped it to a smile when Drake felt his eyes on you.
When you finally reached the house, you stayed in the car a bit longer, hoping he'd say something.
But he didn't.
It's fine... It's just been a long time since we saw each other.
Sure you both weren't as close as you were with Nami and the others but he's still a good friend to you.
"Well, good night then." You smiled at him before opening the car door to leave and sleep your problems away.
"(F/n), wait!"
You halted Immediately and turned your head around to meet a guilty pair of blue eyes. "I'm sorry I let him get away."
Drake broke away eye contact and looked down.
"It's fine... Things like these happens a lot right?" You leaned in for a short peck on his cheeks. "It would have been worse if you hadn't shown up. So I'm thankful. And don't say you're sorry!"
You scolded him playfully with a frown on your face before ending with a small half huff, half chuckle.
"Alright then." Drake locked eyes with you and shook his head and he slowly closed his eyes again, he thanked the gods because there were no lights and you couldn't see the strong blush on his face.
You closed the door behind you and leaned down to make sure he can see you waving at him through the windshield.
He waved back at you and you rushed to make your way to the porch and lifted the welcome mat and there it was, the spare key to the house.
Once Drake made sure you went back inside the house, he drove off to his own house.
His rapidly beating heart was not gonna slow down any time soon.
