Not The Best Day.

You sighed for the umpteenth time the day as you walked home after work in the night. You had punctured a tire this morning and had it towed all the way to Kid's work place for repairs. Your car was at Kid's place as he was one of your best friends and he was a talented mechanic.

He said he'd give the keys to Ace as soon as he finished with it so that he could drive it back to your house the next morning.

If he so much as puts a scratch on it, I'm telling Nami on him.

It wasn't that late as to worry about walking home alone but Nami still worried about you a lot so you continued to text her to distract yourself from the coldness of the night and such.

Nami🍊❤️: You home yet?

You: Nami I just left work, it's just a few blocks away.

Nami🍊❤️: Keep saying that.

Nami🍊❤️: Only you think your work place is close enough to walk in the middle of night.

You sighed as you stared up at the night sky and let out the puff of warm air in the cold weather. A smile formed on your face at your friend's concern.

You: Okay so it's a bit far away. Nothing I can't handle 😛.

As you continued to type away, you didn't notice a faint presence starting to follow you as discreetly as possible, trying not to be noticed by you.

Nami🍊❤️: You better text me when you reach home okay?

You: Yes Mom.

It was only then when you clicked your phone phone off and slipped it into your bag, you felt a hostile aura around you.

Feeling shivers raking your spine all of a sudden, the feeling of hostility never left. You let a quiet whimper leave your lips as you furrowed your eyebrows around your surroundings.

It's completely deserted though.

Your eyes continued to scan left and right and simultaneously concentrated on your peripheral vision as you walked a bit faster than before.

Fuck! Is someone following me?

Each step quicker than the last, you were almost on the verge of running when you heard soft footsteps behind you. Taking a deep breath, you halted your steps and turned around on your heel to see a large man in a dark clothing and due to the burned out street light, you couldn't see his face at all.

WHY THE FUCK DOES IT HAVE TO BE A CREEPY DARK STREET?

Before you could say anything, a flash of silver made your body react instinctively to move back and you felt a sharp pain near your cheek as the silver went past your head, nearly hitting you in the process.

You brought a hand to your cheek as you frowned when you felt it sting a little.

The bastard had thrown a knife or something at me.

However, instead of fleeing away from the spot, you glared at the large man. "What the fuck do you want huh, you creep?!"

Not the best choice of words when you could die.

"I might~ let you goooooo if you just," he paused. "Hand over your purse, doll face~"

His posture and slurred speech told you that he was a drunk idiot, giving you hope that you could beat him.

Before you could think anything or react properly, the drunk bastard lunged towards you, sending you to the ground with a loud thump, a loud shout leaving your throat as all your air was pushed out of your lungs.

The drunk man hovered over you as he grabbed your handbag, forcefully trying to tear it away from your hands but failing as you held on tightly to it.

"Let go you bitch!" He raised his fist to hit your face.

Shit!

You closed your eyes tightly and turned your head away as you braced yourself for the impact.

But it never came.

Instead, what you heard was a loud bang, a lot like a gunshot.

The man above you grunted as he fell backwards, probably in pain.

Your ears were still ringing due to the loud bang and you laid there as your savior beat the shit out of the drunk person.

When you finally sat up, you saw a tall man pinning down the drunk beneath him.

You let out a huff of relief as you dropped your head into your palm.

Thank God someone showed up!

"Thanks for--"

You were cut off when you heard a pained groan, most probably from the tall man who saved you earlier, causing you to snap your head up and the scene.

The tall man was on the ground clutching his crotch and the drunk was no where to be seen.

Uh-oh.

"Oh my God! Are you okay?" You said as you hurried to help the man who well, tried to help you.

You offered the man a hand to stand up and he gladly took it. "Sorry I let him escape. He hit me hard."

Where the sun don't shine? No shit, Sherlock.

"It's fine, not many people would try to help." You bit your lip as you thought of what to do next, another thought hitting you first before you could properly think.

I thought I heard a gunshot earlier.

"I'm detective Diez Drake, I work at the nearby precinct. It's my fault for letting the culprit escape so please let me help you."

You couldn't really see his face but you'd instantly recognize the name anywhere.

"Diez Drake?" You questioned to be sure

"Yes that's me." You couldn't see him furrow his eyebrows and your familiar voice.

You simply widened your eyes and grabbed his hand and started to drag him.

"Excuse me, but what are you doing?!" He exclaimed in surprise as you dragged him out of the dark street into a brighter one.

Your eyes widened tenfold as you saw his appearance.

Ginger hair styled with gel, baby blue eyes, furrowed brows and let's not forget the X shaped scar on the chin.

He studied your familiar face just as intensely as you.

"Drake!!! Oh my god it's you!" You jumped to envelop in waist as he was really tall.

And he's still so handsome!

You were his Junior and he was your senior in high school but you were in the same friends circle three years ago before you left the country for your studies.

It's been only a month since you came back and seeing him here made you forget that you were mugged a while ago.

"Wait, (F/n)?" His voice seems a bit surprised nevertheless happy. "Yes! It's me!" You squealed in happiness, mainly because you were glad he remembered you.

"I thought you went--" his eyes trailed to your cheek and raised his hand to wipe the blood off with his fingers.

"nevermind that, you've got a cut on your cheek. And let's head to the precinct right now, Garp is still there."

You nodded with enthusiasm as he guided you to the precinct.

"You seem awfully happy for someone who got her bag stolen." Drake raised an eyebrow as he stared down at you, a nostalgic smile appearing on his face as he remembered how you were the last he saw you. "I'm just so happy I saw you, that's why I'm not as upset as I'm supposed to be."

You smiled up at him.

Well there were certain reasons you were happy to see him, as him specifically.

After all, he was your crush in high school.
