I

It was all that Taehyung could remember. The smell of lemongrass, the taste of sweet strawberries. Trees softly swaying in the light breeze, clear skies and a warm smile. He saw it in his dreams, in his nightmares too. He saw him at every corner, in every store. Taehyung wondered; of course he wondered. He wondered what if he had turned around and wiped away his tears, what if he had whispered 'I love you' beneath the starry sky and let himself fall into his warm embrace. Where he would be happy. Where he would be home.

There was no longer a home for him.

He had hidden himself, so deeply, in all the white lies and forgotten dreams that it acted like a fortress. Protecting him from the pain, the heartbreaking memory of Hoseok standing there, before him with tear stained cheeks. It protected him from all the vile images of Jungkook buried beneath the horrific crash, covered in blood and unable to walk.

In all the five years that have passed since his graduation, Taehyung has never forgotten a single word Hoseok uttered to him that night. It all remained with him, and even though he regretted that night with every bone in his body, he knew that he didn't deserve Hoseok's love.

"I saw him in town today you know?"
Taehyung turned his head slowly, facing the older male, who stood with both hands stuffed in his pockets.

"Who?"
Taehyung questioned. Seokjin laughed.

"Hoseok you idiot," he replied, taking a seat beside Taehyung. "You're lying to your mother about having a job, you're lying to yourself by saying that you don't love him, and you're lying to the world by acting as if nothing is wrong. How many more times can you lie Kim Taehyung?" Seokjin questioned, overseeing the roofs of apartments.

"I didn't come here to listen to you scold me," Taehyung mumbled in reply, "I came here because I had no where else to go and knew where you lived."

"And I accepted you with open arms, since you are an old friend of mine. But, coming to me at random with a sob story raises a lot of questions, and I want answers, I graduated before you guys did and missed out on all this, whatever this is." He uttered with a soft chuckle.

"I did terrible things Seokjin, after you became to engrossed in studying, after Jungkook and I left Jimin. I did terrible things."

"Like what?" Seokjin questioned, almost laughing at whatever small problem Taehyung had began to overthink.

"I killed Jungkook." Seokjin's eyes widened and smile faded.

"What?"

"I broke his heart and he...he can't...he can't...he's alive but he can't." Taehyung stuttered, he felt as if all the air had been removed from his body.

"Jesus, don't scare me like that Taehyung," Seokjin replied, his heartbeat softening, "so he's alive, but he can't what?"

"Then there's Hoseok, and even Yoongi. I just can't be here anymore Seokjin. I want to leave this place."

Seokjin chose to ignore the fact that Taehyung hadn't told him about Jungkook's state, and chose to move on.

"Then leave." He stated, simply. Without even looking at Taehyung.

"Wh-What?" Taehyung muttered, confused.

"I said leave, if you don't want to be here anymore, leave. It's as simple as that. You can keep drowning in a sea of lies, it's after all your choice and I can't tell you to stay and change your mind, because then it wouldn't really be your choice, you would be doing it for my sake." Seokjin stood up and stretched his arms, his eyes glistened as he stared deeply into the flaming horizon as the sun set.

"You wouldn't have the courage to leave anyway, not without apologising to him. So what will you do?"

"You know, you've become incredibly mean." Taehyung stated, knowing that every word Seokjin had said was true.

"And you've become too soft." Seokjin replied, with a small chuckle. The two watched as the sun disappeared into an endlessly black sky.

"If you had the chance to change everything? To 'fix' everything, would you do it?" Seokjin queried, Taehyung thought deeply.

"I would still make the same mistakes so why try?" Both men laughed at Taehyung's answer. Seokjin began walking towards the entry of his apartment.

"Come on, get down from the balcony, you might catch a cold in the Autumn wind. We can have tea and some-"

"Cake." Taehyung interrupted, scoffing. Seokjin nodded in reply and disappeared into the comfort of his humble abode.

Taehyung looked up at the moon that was glinting alloy-silver.

"Maybe there is no other life for us, maybe it's only this one."
