Taehyung sat beside the door with his face held in the palms of his hands for what felt like centuries. He sat there till the tears faded, till he was far too exhausted to cry, till he felt the silence devour him whole once again. Seokjin had just pushed his way through the unlocked door as Taehyung barely even moved to open the door for him, even when he had knocked on the door endlessly.
"What are you doing? Hey! Can you hear me?" Seokjin lowered his voice when Taehyung remained silent. "Are you okay?" He questioned in a whisper, lowering himself so that he was staring into Taehyung's eyes.
"You-You didn't have any errands to run did you?" Taehyung muttered weakly. Seokjin didn't say a word, he remained still, one hand on Taehyung's shoulder as a way of comforting him. For whatever had happened.
"No." He mumbled after a minute of silence, he bowed his head. What had happened? Taehyung scoffed, causing Jin to lift his head up to face him again.
"Why did you do that?" Seokjin furrowed his eyebrows in confusion at his question. Taehyung shrugged Seokjin's hand off of his shoulder and slowly stood up. Seokjin also stood up, stepping back after seeing the anger written across Taehyung's face. "Why do you always have to be a hero? Pretending that when you say something that it will definitely happen? Pretending that you can make everything better with just a click of your fingers?"
"What on earth happened Taehyung? I don't understand-"
"I'm asking you why you're always in my goddamn business!" Taehyung screamed. "Don't you know when to stop...don't you know when the damage has already been done?"
Seokjin stared into the never-ending sorrow in Taehyung's eyes. He shook his head in disbelief.
"This isn't you, what did you say to Hoseok?" he uttered, the colour quickly running from his face.
"I...I said what I had to say." Taehyung replied. Walking past Seokjin and towards his room. Had he finally lost his mind? He had never shouted at Seokjin before, he had never felt this much hatred for Seokjin before. But in this very moment, there was nothing in Taehyung's mind that spoke good of Seokjin. He wanted to be as far away from the older male as possible, for his sake.
"This is unbelievable!" Taehyung turned to see Seokjin still faced towards the door. His eyes widened when Seokjin chuckled softly. "This is so fucking unbelievable! Tell me Taehyung, what will you achieve from this? What do you look forward to?" Taehyung balled his hands into fists. It took all of his self control to calm himself down.
"I don't care what I want. Why does everyone think that I enjoy this? Why does everyone think that I enjoy seeing Hoseok cry, I did all of this for him. He never deserved me, I bring destruction and despair wherever I go-"
"Oh shut up." Seokjin spoke over Taehyung, turning to face him with an expression full of disdain. An expression that Taehyung had never seen before. "You think that this is what Hoseok needs? You think that you bring pain and hurt wherever you go and leave people crying as if they had caught a terrible, terrible disease. You think this, you think that." Seokjin mocked, his face remained unchanging as he walked closer towards where Taehyung stood. "Do you know what I think; no. Do you know what I know? One day, when your delusion has finally ended. You will realise that maybe just maybe Hoseok was right all this time, you will want his love but when you run to him. He will be standing at the altar or standing in a home or standing in a park or doing anything mundane with the one person that he loves just as he had loved you. When you finally realise your mistake it will be too late. Hoseok would've already found someone who chose to listen to him and let him speak. Even if that person wasn't the famous Kim Taehyung who had pushed him away because his life was an endless drama, because he enjoyed it. He enjoyed living as if all the problems in his life was a part of some dumb plot in a book. But that is not what this is. This is real, this is your life. Hoseok is worth keeping, Taehyung, he is worth burning down the walls of this building for. He is worth more than our lives combined." Seokjin ended with a huff. His words still circulating in Taehyung's mind.
Taehyung was speechless. He couldn't deny any of the words Seokjin had said.
"I don't know if you had been listening when I had been speaking with Hoseok, when you were pretending to sleep in your room. I had asked him if he still loved you, if even after all these years of being alone, he still cared about you. And he had told me, in such a low whisper as if he was afraid of you hearing. That there was only one person in this world that had looked at him after the whole 'Yoongi incident,' without any sign of pity. He told me that you had been the first to look at him as if he was the only person in this world, you had been the only one to love Hoseok because you did truly love him. Not because you felt sorry for him. He told me that he still fucking loved you even when you had made him cry right on the fucking doorstep mere hours ago." Taehyung tried to avoid eye contact with Seokjin, who didn't seem angry anymore. Instead, he sounded sick and tired. Taehyung also felt sick and tired. Guilt rushed into his lungs till he was drowning in it.
"I don't know about you Taehyung. But if I had been Hoseok I would've left you five years ago. I keep on telling you-"
"Okay I get it." Taehyung stated, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "You don't have to keep lecturing me, I...I know. But I said things to Hoseok that I never meant to say, he had said things that he had definitely wanted to say. There is no going back Seokjin. Im sorry." Jin shook his head and walked closer towards Taehyung and placed both of his hands on Taehyung's shoulders.
"Why are you so afraid of being in love? Why are you so afraid of just saying sorry? If that is what you think of Hoseok, maybe the two of you are better off being apart." Seokjin ended with a sigh. Taking his hands off of Taheyung's shoulders and leaving him alone to gather his thoughts.
He had the power to change everything. He was the one that could change the future, the past and the present. Taehyung was able to fix everything, and although he would never be able to erase everything he had lost in the past five years, nor could he erase all the hurt he had caused. He could hold Hoseok in his arms again. He could wake up every morning, empty space replaced with a being who was unforgettable, a smile that spoke a million words, lips that were as soft as the skies. He could wake up to warmth, heartache, joy, sadness and beauty every single day. Taehyung could sing again and live his life; truly live. The key to everything resided in one simple sentence.
I'm so sorry, I love you.
And this time, Taehyung would finally let Hoseok speak; he would listen.
