There was something about having another human, another soul there for you; with you. Someone who would hold all the mysteries and answers to this universe in the palms of their hands. Who would hold you close, comfort you and brush away your tears. There was something about having another person care for your very being. Something that would leave one at ease.
Jungkook had longed for a person like that all his life. In his dreams and in reality. When he had first met Taehyung, his untamed demeanour and inquisitive nature had only bewitched Jungkook; he had promised Jungkook things with that mellifluous voice of his and his soft spoken words had only left the younger entranced. The most painful part of their tragic story is that even after all these years of silence, Taehyung had not once cared enough to talk to Jungkook. To simply, apologise or ask if he was okay. Jungkook was not okay, and he feared that he would never be.
Fear, in this world was inevitable. It was behind each and every dark corner, beneath the hard earth and between every single silver lining, fear will always lay in wait for a seemingly unknowing fool so that it may grip onto them ever so tightly with its crooked teeth and tear them open as if they had never breathed at all. Jungkook knew what true fear was. True fear, was trusting someone who had professed to love you. True fear was leaving your fate in the hands of a stranger who you called a lover.
It had not yet rained, but the air felt damp. An icy zephyr blew carelessly through the atmosphere leaving its footsteps in the form of a shiver on everyone it touched. Yoongi stood before Jungkook, eyes fixated on those of the younger, waiting.
"Please Jungkook," he pleaded, "let me in, I don't know how many times I have to apologise to you. I've even bought some snacks!" He held up the bag of goods in front of Jungkook's face with a kind smile. Yoongi still had much more to learn, he knew that, and he was trying his very best to live up to his own expectations. Without a word, Jungkook nodded and allowed the older male to come inside.
While taking his coat off, Yoongi watched as Jungkook searched through the bag, placing its contents atop the kitchen counter.
"I-I've been thinking about everything you've said Jungkook," Yoongi began in a quite raspy voice, he immediately cleared it, "I am my own worst enemy, I'm trying to change." Jungkook merely nodded, his eyes avoiding any contact with the other male's, Yoongi sighed in return. "I understand your pain Jungkook, I truly do, and I want to help you."
"You don't, Yoongi. You really don't. I feel a sense of helplessness and i'm terrible at coping with it, and I'm afraid that no one will be able to understand it." Jungkook retorted, his eyebrows furrowed. He did not seem very angry yet there was a hint of agony in his words, a hint that was far too easy for Yoongi to pick up.
"There is nothing stopping you from doing all that you love Jungkook. You were never restricted from the world and never will be. I am my own enemy, but you are a far worse enemy to yourself than I am to myself."
"Don't use my own words against me." Jungkook uttered, causing Yoongi to stifle a laugh. Jungkook smiled in return. "Although, I guess you are right..." there was a moment of utter silence, and in that moment of silence Jungkook stared into Yoongi's dark umber eyes.
"Yoongi...I-I'm terrified." he stated, his voice breaking ever so slightly. Yoongi moved closer towards Jungkook, and knelt down beside him. Without hesitance, he placed a hand on top of Jungkook's, gently caressing his skin with his thumb.
"Aren't we all?" Yoongi questioned, causing Jungkook to chuckle. He had a forlorn and broken look in his eyes, to look into them would mean that one saw madness and pulchritude living in harmony. And that was jungkook, mania and beauty sharing one damaged body, living together ever so peacefully. Even if that peace was a disguised chaos, even if that peace was hectic.
"I-I don't mean it like that Yoongi, I'm terrified of...myself, of what I can and can't do. I'm scared of the future, my future. If i'll even be in that future." Yoongi froze, Jungkook saw the sudden change in his expression and turned to look down at Yoongi's hand that was resting on his. "I've thought about it, you know. I...I've thought about it a lot, and every time all I can think of is how you're the only one who would...who would-" Jungkook couldn't think of the right words to say.
But Yoongi understood it all. He nodded, not to say that it was okay, because it was not. Seeing the younger this way made Yoongi's heart ache, he wasn't angry at Taehyung, it wasn't necessarily Taehyung's fault. But maybe him apologising to Jungkook would allow him to heal again, maybe it would allow him to stop re-opening old wounds.
"Anyway, this is turning sad. And I can practically hear the conversation that is bound to happen next. What time is it, lets do something, anything!" The younger exclaimed, throwing Yoongi off guard, he blinked slowly.
"...Jungkook-"
"No, we'll talk about all that another day. I'm alive and breathing and maybe...maybe thats a good thing. I want to do something, maybe travel out of this house for once. I mean, I want to get a tattoo, on my hip, right here," he stopped and proceeded to lift up his shirt, pointing at his hip with a thin finger "I want the words...'kiss me' right there." Yoongi sniggered, standing up. Jungkook gave him a cold glare. "Why are you laughing? You think that no one would-"
"Okay!" Yoongi shouted, Jungkook began to laugh almost hysterically, so much so that tears began to stream out of his eyes.
"You have to get a tattoo too Yoongi, one on your forehead that reads 'I'm a massive dickhead!'" Jungkook laughed even harder, he calmed down and wiped the tears from his eyes. "Can we go now?"
