"𝐒𝐎 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆?" his voice danced around as you kept on walking, and he had to fasten his peace to not get left behind.

he was obvious to the glances your were throwing behind your shoulder just so you could make sure that he was still with you.

"we- i need supplies" you told him, he was a little to focused on trying to understand how you weren't making any sound to realise the pronoun that you had used.

"oh okay" he responded simply, concentrating on your legs and your body.

"do you need a close up?" you suddenly asked referring to his locked gaze, finally stopping.

the sudden change of speed made neteyam almost fall against you but you didn't bother move even a muscle, almost as you knew that he wasn't gonna touch you.

"wha-what?" he questioned, confused about your behaviour and your question.

"listen" you started, doing a little step to move your face even more near to his "i needed supplies and i didn't want your family and your little stray cat around, alright?"

for a second your eyes were on his lips.

he knew that you had changed the subject, and that your question wasn't something that you had really wanted to ask, but he also knew that you were lying — or at least partially.

he looked at your lips too.

"c'mon, it's been weeks since you have meet them i know you're starting to accept them" he smiled looking at you and your eyes immediately move to his white teeth, again.

"oh i do accept them" you looked into his yellow orbs "just not in my personal space" you added blankly.

you turned around, this time you had slowed down and even if the omaticaya was thankful for that he had to roll his eyes at your phrase.

did you really felt the need to keep that wall between the two of you?

he had thought that he had succeeded on surpassing it, but something new came up every time.

and he could never get to the center.

"tell me" he said, as he gently caught your arm; and once again your feet were stopped from doing another step "tell me what's happening"

why did he always had to come so near to your face?

how did he always saw right trough you?

how did he always knew what to say?

why did he had to look so pretty?

and why, why did he had to took your face in his hands?

your brain was overwhelmed with questions, none of them really mattered, but that was the only thing he was capable off, make your mind go crazy.

you brought your hands over his and he thought that you were gonna push them away.

"our second meeting" you started, and he nodded slowly "why did you came back?" you asked sincere.

it was the first time that you had asked neteyam something about you two, something about his reasons.

you were always there to listen, to brought the best out of his thoughts, to answer to all his questions about you and your past.

but this time he needed to be the one to have the answer.

and he did.

but it was a little too difficult to admit it.

but it was also too difficult to look right into your eyes and try to deny you something, his brain was completely under you control.

so for a moment he got lost into the reflections of your pupils, as he decided between you and him.

"i couldn't stay away" it came out as a murmur, as something too private to be said in a open space.

you felt your soul get dragged too the ground, the thought of the darkness hearing his words being too much for your own heart to not feel a weight pushing on it.

you knew the feeling in your chest, you knew what it was but you couldn't admit it.

and neither could he.

but he had almost did.

you couldn't let that happen, you couldn't put him in danger, you couldn't let him get hurt.

you tried to refuse his answer, your head moving from left to right a couple of times as you slowly moved out of his grasp.

the realisation that it was happening had took your heart in its hands and it was crashing it so hard that you thought it was going to break.

"no, no no no" you started to say, you looked away, not wanting him to see you be this weak.

tears weren't welling up in your eyes and your voice wasn't cracking but neteyam could sense that it was the most sadness that it was going to came out of you.

and he was the cause of that.

"wait" you hadn't move away from him and even if he was sure that it was a good thing, he felt you slip away "please"

he begged and you met his beautiful eyes again, he slowly moved more towards you, wanting to make you feel safe.

"i know that this whole thing is...strange, i've never been so scared in my whole life and-" he let out a nervous chuckle that made the ends of your mouth turn upwards "and i met you, that was fucking scary"

you let out a hum while you gave him an 'oh, really?' look that made his body temperature rise a little.

he nodded as he confirmed his previous words, he wanted to hold your face again, he wanted to trace your body prints with his fingers, he wanted to feel your warm skin against his.

but he knew that it would've probably made you ran away.

because the feeling of skin against skin was too real, and you didn't want to realise that what you were experiencing was the reality.

"answer this neteyam..." every time his name fell from your lips his heart skipped a beat, so he was really thankful that you used his name only on rare occasions.

"what are you so scared off?" your glare hardened in a second and the omaticaya came to the conclusion that however that conversations was going to end, it wouldn't have been good.

"toruk?" you chuckled as the word left your mouth, already knowing the answer as he denied with a shake of his head.

"me?" this time he responded quickly, not even leaving you time to doubt it.

"your clan?" and that was when it clicked in his brain, that you already knew.

of course you did.

you were always ten steps ahead.

he had tried to hide to you just how afraid he was of his family, and his tribe, finding out.

but he had failed.

"yeah" you nodded almost as you could read his thoughts — not like he would've been surprised if you could.

"whatever you're thinking about just can't happen" you pointed a finger against his chest, your eyes getting lost into the other's.

"why? uh? it's not like you don't feel it too" he talked back, only after he opened his mouth he noticed that it had been the first time that he had ever been going against you.

and maybe that's why it hurt so much.

"can't you see? no one wants us together!" you shouted exasperated at his determination to make you go crazy.

"my siblings do..." he murmured more to himself, but you heard him anyways and it was enough to make you roll your eyes.

"this isn't gonna work" you replied angrily, your tone hard and stern.

he tilted his head before trying to deny the obvious, something that he seemed to do a lot — too himself and too others.

"your tribe hates me, your parents hates me, if they knew they would try to kill me"

he knew that you weren't scared of them, a whole tribe could be very dangerous for you, sure; but he knew how strong and powerful you were.

and you had the toruk on your side.

so when he heard you whisper "and that's not even the worst" to yourself, he found himself not being too much surprised about it.

"what do you-" before he could say anything else you brought your hand to cover his mouth.

he looked at you as you turned away from him and he knew what he had to do.

he followed you, like he always did.

you took him to a new place, something he had never seen before; it was even darker then where you first met, and he was sure that if you wanted you could easily leave him behind.

you had never took him there.

but there wasn't anything to see.

pandora was always beautiful, there wasn't a doubt about it.

but it felt as if that place wasn't even in pandora, there was quiet but it wasn't peaceful.

and it wasn't for the darkness that could clearly streak fear in everyone's heart.

it was as if the air itself was created with tension and anxiousness.

"this is where i keep my supplies" you explained, voice with no emotions.

neteyam had become familiar with that, with how you could keep everything and everyone away just with a little change.

if you wanted to you could stop your face from creating even those micro expressions, your voice and your looks could be blank.

you could just tune yourself out.

and feel nothing.

or at least make yourself looks like it.

you didn't use the term 'home' to describe the place.

and neteyam didn't know if it was because you actually lived free in the forest, or if it was just another way to not look weak.

what you didn't know was that you could never look weak through neteyam's eyes.

he hummed, letting you know that he was following you with his brain and with his legs.

when he arrived near to your 'house' he realised that it was just some things thrown inside a half broken tree.

he had to expect it, but the thought of you living all alone in that thing, for god knows how long, did hurt him anyways.

you walked through your things, that were scattered everywhere, he looked around as he tried to understand something more about you.

"don't touch anything." you emphasised every word with a pointed finger, and it looked like he got the memo.

you left him behind as you climbed up the tree, he observed you with his head tilted as you pushed yourself up.

then you found something, probably a big hole, because next thing you vanished against the wood and the young boy was left alone in that chaos.

"don't touch anything" he started to repeat to himself, his voice was low but if someone had been near than they could've heard him for sure.

he played with his fingers as he turned around on his spot, trying to keep his curiosity at bay.

but how could he?

you were always so cryptic and mysterious, only letting other's know some trace of the real you.

and even though neteyam was sure that he was the one to know you the best — obviously without counting toruk — he couldn't say that he really knew you.

he knew parts, broken parts that he couldn't place in any time line because you never specified anything.

you were clever, too clever, and he hated it.

but if you left him there alone without supervision maybe you weren't as cleaver as he thought.

so he let himself go, and he started to walk around, his eyes roaming on every object that he found.

an item cough his eyes, it was on top of a mountain of junk, almost as it was put there for him too see.

he took it into his hands, moving it and rolling it around, feeling the material under his finger tips.

did you made it?

before he could even think of an answer for that question he heard a noise behind him and he let out a small breath of fear as he knew what would've happened.

he felt the sharp end of your knife against his spine "thought i told you to not touch anything" you scolded him, the blade sliding down his back.

he turned around, you put your weapon back into its place, and even if you seemed harmless he knew that you could've killed anyone with just a bite.

you took the item from his hand positioning it somewhere behind you.

he was about to say something — not that you would've really cared about it anyway — but you pushed something against his chest.

they were about to fall to the ground and neteyam was quick to act, he threw his hands around as tried to catch all of them in his hands, he was clumsy for sure.

when he took a good look at whatever he was holding a confused expression came to his face.

"why am i holding arrows?" he moved one near his face to look at it better "oh- bloody arrows" he glanced at you, waiting for an answer.

"you asked me if i was stealing your supplies, i wasn't." your arms were crossed on your chest, you were putting another barrier between the two of you and the omaticaya couldn't let you do that.

"i know, you already told me"

he said it as if it was obvious, and for him it was.

he believed you, he trusted you.

you did a step and you took one of the arrows in your hands, shoving it against it face.

"but this- this isn't something, it's someone." you turned the point towards the ground as you made him look at the end of it.

"look at how it's secured" you took one of his arrows from behind his back comparing the two "now look at yours"

"they... are different?" he asked unsure "so it isn't one of us it's- it's good, right?" he did another nervous chuckle as you looked at him blankly.

"it's from a na'vi." you gesticulated with your hands, highlighting every sentence trying to make him follow your line of thoughts "it's not from an omaticaya."

"it's from a t'herkaya" he said over you, covering your voice, and you gave him a nod, agreeing with what he had just said.

you watched as something in his brain started to work but you couldn't let him think to much.

"this was a bad idea." you commented before taking the arrows away from his grasp.

you pushed his back behind its back, before you started to punch him away from your place.

"no-no,no wait- what does that mean? what do we do??" he asked dramatically.

"that means danger." you grunted as you finally took him back into the forest "and we do nothing."

"you go away and forget about me, while I take care of this" your look meant that he couldn't say anything back, but neteyam wasn't gonna let you go that easily.

"i can help you, my family can help you, i could talk with them!" he tried to make you reason, but it didn't really work.

your mind had already chosen what to do.

"no you can't! stop this nonsense" you pushed his shoulder and the force made him step back from you "what is your problem? uh? you have to stop this hero thing! you have your fucking place! stay. there."

"my problem? you're the one that's going against some stranger! are you even hearing yourself right now?" he shouted back.

you didn't need to raise your voice to make someone scare but the anger of the situation was pushing the worst out of the both of you.

"she's isn't some fucking stranger!" you realised how high your voice really was and you lowered the level before speaking again.

"we knew this wouldn't work so stop trying to deny the obvious" you growled at him, he looked at you with sadness behind his eyes.

it was the first time that you ever saw neteyam looking at you with all that anger.

but would it be the last?
