"𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐍𝐆!" neteyam's laugh passed trhough your ears and you looked behind your shoulder to smirk at him.
the clouds around you made it a little difficult to really see the beautiful view but neteyam's hadn't even noticed it as his focus was all on you.
the wind hitting your face as you tried— and succeeded on — going faster than him, he chuckled as he noticed your need to win even with something so little.
you made your red friend turn and you did a twist around the blue ikran, the omaticayan's eyes were still on you.
he was mesmerised by the way you were connected with your toruk, it felt like you were the same person, like you had the same mind.
you finally slowed down, ending on neteyam's left side.
you took a moment to regain your breath, your fingers moving on the rope that was helping you stay on your toruk.
"so, what do did you want to show me?" you turned your head to look at neteyam, your face trying to not show too many emotions.
"what? is this not enough?" you watched as his eyes widened a little in fear, the thought of being disrespectful towards you crushing his mind and you let out a chuckled before he could even begin to make a fool of himself.
"relax" your voice was soft as you teased him "i'm bringing you to the perfect place for your little friend" you mentioned to his ikran with a tilt of your head and neteyam followed your look before making a confused sound.
you rolled your eyes.
"you're impatient." was the only thing that you said to him before shouting in the air, the toruk fleshing away before his eyes leaving neteyam and his ikran flying alone.
neteyam smiled again before doing the same, him and his banshee following right behind you two.
you started to fly around the other, the connection between your winged friends and you two strong enough to assure that.
you started to follow him around, trying to catch him.
he knew you were letting him get away and he pretended to not notice it until finally you stopped, letting him know that you had arrived to your destination.
it was the top of a mountain.
"yo'ko hufwe" you told him as you scratched the neck of the toruk, he made a happy sound from the back of his throat as you touched a sensible spot and you couldn't suppress your smile.
he observed you for some seconds before asking you to repeat the name, "yo'ko hufwe" your response was slow as you evidenced every syllable.
he repeated it low, for himself, but you heard him anyway.
"so, is it a circle of wind?" asked neteyam as he connected the dots "or...something like that?" his voice was less confident as he realised the lack of answering by you.
you nodded before making the toruk walk to the edge of the rock, he watched as you pushed yourself up on your knees, enough to look down.
you murmured to yourself and neteyam was almost hundred percent sure that it was something along the lines of 'if he dies i'm gonna kill him' but he could never be totally sure with you.
his eyes were on you as toruk positioned himself, neteyam understood that you weren't gonna make things easy for him and he copied your every moves.
then, without giving a signal, you and your toruk jumped down the mountain; he was quick to follow and he couldn't suppress the gasp of surprise that left his mouth as the force of the wind brought them upwards.
he heard a snicker and he frantically looked around to try and spot you.
you appeared from behind him and it took him some seconds to realise that you were more relaxed than he had ever seen.
maybe it was because everything would've been in your favour, the way neteyam didn't even know what was happening and was obviously confused.
or maybe it was because you were finally letting yourself go.
you moved your arm in front of you to pat the toruk head, he screeched amused and the omaticaya heard you murder something again.
only this time he didn't understand anything, the noise of the wind being too high for him to hear and he added that to the list of things that you definitely knew about that place.
he finally calmed down and you took it as your signal to explain.
"these are eywa's lungs" he remained silent, and even thought his eyes were on you they weren't judging, they were adoring "the air comes out and fly towards the sky, the banshee and every animal with wings uses this place as a stops, they can stay in the air without having to waste energy."
only then neteyam's moved his yellow orbits from you to his ikran's wings, which were opened but not moving, letting the wind be the only thing to stop them from falling.
"beautiful"
you asked him to repeat with a hum and he took a breath of the fresh air before answering.
"this is beautiful." his smile was big and your eyes were kidnapped by his fangs, he noticed it but he thought that it wasn't the right moment to have a talk.
you clearly didn't think the same and he started to try and stop you with his voice as you got up, your feet on the toruk's back.
you rolled your eyes, you and the toruk sharing a knowing glance.
he opened his wing some more and you quickly did some steps on it, successfully arriving to the ikran's wing who copied the biggest's actions.
you repeated the steps and in seconds you were sitting in front of neteyam, your back towards the ikran's head.
the omaticaya was silent and you looked at him waiting for an explanation.
"wha- what did you just do?" he raised his voice as he realized that it was the only way that you could hear him.
"i wanted to see your baby fangs" you responded, your hands going to his cheek, your thumbs moving his lips away from the teeth as you examined them.
"no i-" he stopped, gently moving yours hands away to not upsets you "i meant the 'jumping on the wings' part" he had been so mesmerized by your actions that he hadn't even registered the adjective 'baby' used to describe one of his only natural weapon.
you shrugged, your fingers opening his mouth once again, you pretended to not notice his hands on your thighs as you looked closer at the white thing.
"in this place they don't need to use energy to fly so it doesn't bother them, my people teach us as soon as we get a bond"
the wheels in his brain working for some seconds before you pressed your thumb under one of his fangs.
he felt an harder push before the smell of blood intoxicated him.
he pushed your hands away, this time a little harder a before he went to clean his gang with his hand, taking your wrist in the other.
"what are you doing?" he questioned.
"testing your fangs." you replayed simply there was some seconds of silence and you sighed exasperated " they are small, and less pointy, you're gonna need to use a lot of force if you fight something, or someone"
"is it something in your favor or is it just something against me?" he asked sarcastically but something in you switched a little and he noticed your expression change, his heart beating faster as he thought that he had done something wrong.
he called your name softly and you smiled a little to let him know that it was okay.
"its time to go back" you told him as you did some sounds with the back of your troth, then you let yourself fall to the side and neteyam was quick to call your name again.
this time shouting it.
then he did a breath of relief as he saw you fly back up, the toruk always there for you.
it was time go back; but if you had knew what was gonna happen there you would've thought twice about it.

"my tribe isn't good neteyam . i won't lie to you." his name fell from your lips like honey and it touched his ears just right, even thought the topic wasn't one that you really wanted to talk about you knew that there was no point on hiding the truth anymore.
his eyes were locked on you and you felt your side burn under the pressure of his gaze.
"i'm not going to tell you about how we are misunderstood or shit like that, because that's not true." you took a deep breath "or at least not anymore"
you took a moment to let your words sink in as you looked at the water in front of you, trying to distract your racing heart.
"at the time of the first songs my clan was just like yours, they lived in peace with one another, near the forest, living one on one with eywa, they were peaceful and lovely" you smiled to yourself at the thought and neteyam took a second to notice it.
"but then, centuries ago, a new chief came, i can't tell you his name — but i can tell you that he wasn't good; it's forbidden for me to know his reason but he ruined our tribe, he manipulated them from the inside and with time he convinced them to attack the others." your breath started to become a little more erratic and his eyes moved away from your face to try and give you some privacy.
he moved his fingers near yours, making them almost touch but leaving the last decision to you.
"long story short everyone knew who the killers were, my people. but some of the t'herkaya still saw the good in the others and were against those useless fights; my ancestors were the one to start the first rebellion." you fingers gripped his and he remained silent, not wanting to make you shut up.
you chuckled and neteyam's could not believe it, it was the first time he had heard you do something similar to a laugh and it was a fake one.
neteyam in that moment realised that he had always thought that everything had a basic answer, that you were the way you were because you were a killer; he didn't realised that you were the way you were because you were supposed to be a killer.
"lots of people died, too much peopled died." neteyam was scared, and it wasn't because of you, but for you.
you had always been against the idea of letting yourself be vulnerable and he had always understood it not giving you any pressure.
and , months after your first encounter, you finally found the courage to do it; but the truth was much more different than what he could've had ever imagined.
"then finally things changed, but everyone inside the clan could sense the darkness that those terribles years created; and the tsahík choose to give the people a new start, a new life." finally your eyes met his but the beautiful sparkles that he usually saw weren't there.
"now the base is deep into the forest, more difficult for the others to find, and when we're ready eywa choose us to leave the others and connect with her to prevent those things from happening again."
neteyam wanted to say something, he really did, but he wasn't really good with words and the fact that he felt his throat closed didn't help him at all.
"there's still a movement, ready to go against whatever we need to" he took notice of the we and he had to suppress a small proud smile at the thought of you fighting for what was right, what was good.
you, who had always acted like a cold, indestructible being, who had always threatened to kill him, were actually the most pure soul of your clan.
"why are you telling me this? why now?" he asked genuinely confused about it.
"because-" you started to say before you stopped in your tracks your ears going up with you as you set straight in your place.
neteyam followed your every move he was about to open his mouth and asks but he knew that he was better to just let you do your thing.
neteyam finally understood what you were hearing as the noise of branch breaking under feet echoed.
he heard some whispering and when he moved his gaze on you again you were up on your feet, the knife in your hand.
he watched as you brought a finger to your mouth, motioning for him to stay silent.
he nodded slowly as you moved in front of him, your senses all in alert for everything.
and then when the noises became more evident and near neteyam started to connect them with something, someone.
but before he could do or say anything you ran away, leaving him there alone.
he remained speechless and he rolled his eyes he took his own knife out as he kept on turning around, not understanding from where the noise was coming from.
and then familiar faces passed through the bushes and for a moment neteyam sighed in relief.
"bro you're trapped now" chuckled lo'ak as neteyam pushed his knife back into its place on his chest.
neteyam chuckled before he noticed spider kiri and tuk, they had smirks on their faces as well.
and a hiss was heard, a low, dark hiss that made everyone's have a cold feelings on their back.
everyone including neteyam who understood what was happening a little too late once again.
he took his sisters arms trying to push them back from where they came from.
he tried to drag lo'ak too but none of them wanted to leave their brother alone with whatever thing that was circling them.
"no, you don't understand you need to leave" neteyam tried everything he could to make his family go away but nothing worked.
they heard more hiss and noises and the fear became higher, but for neteyam it was for a different reason.
finally a moment of peace, of quiet.
spider chuckled happily at the thought of being alive but neteyam remained serious.
and then, everything went wrong.
