"Son of a bitch."
"That's ten points for me, Jin!"
Maiko pushed at his chest, laughing as he plucked his playing card out from the wall.
He tore Maiko's piece of paper down, which she had used as a target for card throwing instead of the scratched up and scarred wall like Jin. He hated losing to her.
"I thought you'd struggle more, but you've been getting the hang of it."
"Don't sound so upset." Maiko walked back to Katsumi who was sitting atop a desk behind them.
"Well, how is your hand doing? My chest is still looking pretty bad," he asked.
"It's fine," she answered him, "what's wrong with you?"
"My scar looks horrible."

"I couldn't imagine the horror."
Jin plucked the king of hearts from his box and held it between his fingers, careful not to cut himself for the millionth time.
"I was just asking—no need to be sassy."
He slung the card at the wall, where at that moment, the door slid open and Kaminari stepped into the room.
The card lodged into Kaminari's arm, making him immediately start screaming.

"Holy shit!" Jin rushed over to him, "Denki! What are-stop yelling!"
Kaminari's eyes were wide, his entire body shaking.
"Shut up! Shut up!" he begged.
Suddenly, Denki's voice seized as Katsumi raised her hand.
It still looked as if he were yelling, but nothing came out. She hated using the silencing aspect of her quirk.
"What the fuck, Seiso?" she berated, continuing to hold Denki's voice. The group tried to shield Denki from the other students in the study hall, whose eyes looked away at the sight of blood.
"I didn't mean to!"
Kaminari's eyes darted quickly between Jin's, his heavy breathing being the only audible noise coming from his mouth.

"Denki-Kun, you need to be quiet. We'll help you," Katsumi assured, releasing his voice to reveal his whimpering.
"Where the hell is Tomo?" She asked.
"Kaikaku is doing a job somewhere," Maiko shrugged, "she was supposed to be back a while ago!"
Kaminari felt like he was going to feint.
"What-I-holy-What do I do?"
"It's fine-Denki," Jin shrugged, "I'm going to remove it and then we'll clean up the blood."
"You better hope and pray that you didn't hit anything important," Maiko told him.
"It's not that deep."

Jin's words didn't assure the younger of the group and Kaminari started to breath heavily again.
Jin took his thin fingers and plucked the card out, thankfully, only letting small streams of blood flow down his arm.
"It's fine, we're fine."
Maiko took off her sweatshirt, wrapping it around Kaminari's arm.
"This is the last class of the day. So just go to the nurse and you'll be fine."

"No," Jin shook his head, "the nurse will ask what happened. I don't want to get into trouble."
"Denki-Kun needs medical attention," Maiko grumbled, "that's what's important."
"Denki," Jin put his hand on his shoulder, "just go to your dorm and we'll get Tomo to go fix you."
Maiko slapped Jin's hand away.

"He's going to the nurse!"
"He's going to his dorm!"
Denki, squeezing the sweater tighter on his wound, looked between his upperclassman while they bickered.
"I'll go to my dorm," he said, making Jin smile.
"Perfect! Mai! The boy has spoken."

Grabbing his notebook, which he had left in the room, Denki sighed, "it's okay. I'll just let your friend fix me up."
"Denki-Kun, let me walk you," Katsumi offered, "I'm still worried about you."
"Thanks, Boisuda-San!"
The two left the room, while Maiko shook her head at Jin.
"You are the most irresponsible quirk-user," she insulted, "hurting him so carelessly."

Jin's fists shook, the healing cuts in his hands seething with pain. He leaned down to her ear and whispered, "are you going to cry and sob about it?"
"What?"
He smiled, seeing just how fast she stiffened.
"Are your eyes going to freeze every time someone says my name?"
Maiko wanted to wipe his stupid smile off his face.
"Fuck you."

"You were amazing tonight," Tomo complimented, taking Y/N's hands in her own. "You're such a quick thinker."
"I'm glad you think so. I just didn't want anyone to get hurt," Y/N blushed, hearing such words from Tomo.
"You did burn your hands pretty badly through." Tomo ran her finger over Y/N's palms, the sensitive ripples in her skin sending shivers down her spine.

"Beams of light burn my skin faster than flames."
"I'll be able to fix it, but it'll probably take a bit. Burns aren't my exact specialty, but I'm working on them."
Tomo applied her palms to Y/N's and the two of them sat on her bed while they healed.
"Tomo, do you think that villain was serious?"
"About what?"
"Coming back? Getting revenge?"

Tomo looked at the downturned expression on her friend's face.
"I don't think you need to worry," she shrugged, "A villain sneaking into U.A is basically impossible."
Y/N looked down, her mind still running through the possibility.
"We didn't know what his quirk was though. There's a million different ways to get inside undetected."
"There's professionals on campus. You've got nothing to worry about. He was just trying to scare us, L/N. It's what villains do."

Y/N shook her head.
"He was violent though. He wouldn't claim something like that just to make us afraid."
"It seems to be working," Tomo chuckled quietly, "You're overthinking it."
Y/N still didn't want to accept it. The idea of a villain sneaking onto U.A's campus was terrifying. There were so many kids, but the majority weren't even hero students. A number of things could go wrong.

After a while, Tomo removed her palms.
"Perfect! They look great!"
Y/N's now smooth hands squeezed her friend's.
"Tomo, what happened tonight was just adrenaline. My quirk becomes unstable when that happens. As much as I'd like to think I'm capable, if something bad were to happen-"
Y/N had tears building up in her eyes, the words of the villain had truly worried her.

"It'll be alright," Tomo smiled, leaning in closer, "You've got a ton of people looking out for you."
Her friend remained silent.
"All of us are in this together. I'll always be here for you, L/N."
Y/N looked up, her eyes searching.
"You will?"
"Of course. I know you. I know who you are. I promise you."
Leaning in closer, Y/N pressed her lips to Tomo's, making her gasp in surprise.

For a moment, Tomo was still, but she returned the kiss and the two of them melted into each other.
Coming apart, Tomo, mumbled, "what-What about-Jin?"
"Screw him," Y/N grumbled, kissing her again.
The two girls wrapped their arm's around each other, not knowing that their promises had meant nothing.

With a thick scarf wrapped around her, Tomo stepped up to the dorm and gave the door a knock.
"Tomo!" Jin smiled, pulling the door open.
"Why am I here?" She asked, unraveling the scarf from her neck.
"They've got something that needs fixed!"
"Then why are you here? We shouldn't even be stepping near a hero course dorm."
"I'm helping out Denki-Kun. Chill out."

Tomo followed him inside 1-A's dorm where she found herself standing in front of the couch where Kaminari sat. His other classmates had taken note of her presence and some came over to observe.
"What is this?" She asked.
Kaminari removed Maiko's sweater to reveal the small cut in his arm and the dried blood still on his skin.

"Woah!" Kirishima shouted, leaning over the couch and looking at the wound. His friends tried to get a peek.
Tomo looked over at Jin and his stupid smile.
"What happened to him?"
"It was a silly accident!" He explained, "Denki-Kun got in the way. All he needs is a little fix!"

Tomo and her blank stare made Jin's smile fall.
"No," she said, beginning to turn around.
"Tomo, Tomo! Wait!" Jin pulled her arm, "please! I'll get in trouble if Aizawa sees a cut in his arm that size!"
"Not my problem."
"Tomo! Please!"
Prying him off, Tomo shook her head, "I've covered for you a million times. You need to to take responsibility."

Jin pointed over to Denki.
"He's injured! You're just gonna leave him like that?!"
"Jin, you are in irresponsible coward and I'm not using my quirk just so you don't get in trouble."
"I already have two infractions! A third one and then I'm suspended!"
"Maybe that's a good thing."
Jin grabbed Tomo's shoulders.
"I promise! I promise that this is the last time!"

Tomo felt terrible for the decision she was about to make. Denki needed help, but she didn't want to let Jin get away with his reckless behaviors.
"Fine. But it's the last time."
"Thank you!"
Sitting beside Denki, Tomo held his arm in her lap.
She looked closely at his wound, discovering a problem that would lengthen how long this would take.

"I can't seal it up because your muscle is damaged. I have to heal that first."
Kaminari's friends began to surround the back of the couch.
"W-What-What does that mean?"
"It means that I have to seal up your muscle first. It's going to hurt."
Tomo looked up at the intense stares of the first-year audience.
"Give me just a minute."
Tomo went to the kitchen to wash her hands, her chest tight as she thought about Kaminari's injury. She usual doesn't have to fix something that bad. She hasn't been able to practice that kind of thing in a while.

Sitting back beside the blond boy, she looked up at his friends.
"Someone hold Kaminari's hand. He should squeeze it."
Kirishima offered his hand, "You're very manly for doing this!"
"Ready, Denki?"
He nodded, not even prepared for the sharp pins and needles that pierced his skin as Tomo squeezed her finger inside the wound; she made sure her skin touched the torn muscle.
Kaminari squeezed his friend's hand tight, while screaming as quietly as he possibly could.

When she had finished, Tomo started on the outside in order to completely seal up the opening.
Her finger was bloody, and Kaminari had cold tears drying on his face.
"So do you heal wounds?" Midoriya asked, wanting more insight on her quirk.
"I reseal surfaces. I've gotten good at skin abrasions though."
"Interesting," he noted, continuing to mumble more to himself as he watched.

"What else can you fix?" Kirishima asked, climbing over the couch to sit beside his friend. He wiped off the tears while listening to Tomo's answer.
"Metal, wood, any solid surface basically. I'm still working on scars and I'm pretty good at burns."
Todoroki, who was standing beside Midoriya, watched closely.
"You heals burns?"
Looking over at him, she nodded.
"Yeah, but my rule of thumb is that I only heal scars and burns that hurt. Scars are what make us special."

"You think?"
"I've got plenty," she shrugged, lifting up her pant leg to show a multitude of tiny scars scattered along her legs. "I was really stupid when I was younger, so used myself as practice for my quirk. I only fixed the cuts, not the scars, because they were apart of me."
Tomo saw the large burn on Todoroki's face and her heart ached knowing that he was questioning if it should be there.
"Sometimes scares are traumatic and sometimes they are reminders of heroic deeds. Scars however should remind us where we've been and where we are headed. They should remind us who we were and who we are going to become."

Tomo knew deep down that there was a scar she couldn't mend. There was a horrid scar forever laced in her heart that no quirk could fix. Tomo had broken trust, faith, love, and promises.
No amount of time could heal that wound.
The scar in Tomo's heart had told who she was.

A girl with an internalized fear of a person she once loved.
