"where are you headed?" kuroo asked you when you stood up.
"uh, home?"
"i'll walk with you to the nearest bus stop or train station." he offered.
"huh? no it's alright, i'll just catch a cab." you assured him.
"there's no cabs near here, this cafe is really secluded, i was surprised you knew where it was."
"haha, um, i was just exploring and happened to find this place." you fibbed.
"do you know your way back?" he asked you.
"...no."
"let me walk you." he suggested again, and after a pause, you finally nodded.
i'm supposed to be around him anyway.
"so," you began, "do you always offer to walk girls to train stations or today a special occasion?"
"there's a reason, but it's kind of stupid." he admitted.
"what is it?"
"i feel like i know you, like we've met before, and maybe if i spend more time with you i'll figure out from where."
"huh." you responded. "funny."
"why?"
"i feel like i've had that pickup line used on me before." you teased.
he quickly grew bashful and slightly flustered. "i swear it wasn't supposed to sound like that, i really meant—"
"don't worry, i believe you." you chuckled. "we've met before." you confirmed.
"really? where? i feel so bad for forgetting, i'm not usually this slow."
"i'll let you figure that out yourself." you laughed. somehow, you got the feeling that telling him you were an ex goddess who was on earth for supposedly killing him wasn't the smartest way to build a friendship with him.
he sighed in exasperation. "you're really not going to tell me?" you shook your head. "wait, if you remember me, how did you mistake me for your other friend?" he asked.
you tilted your head to the side. "other friend?"
"bishamon."
simply hearing his name made your heart skip a beat, and you had to force yourself to not stop walking. "you two look very alike."
"ohoho?"
"what?"
"your friend must have been pretty good looking then." he smirked.
you scoffed in response. yes. "full of yourself, are you now?"
"just a tad." he admitted, the grin never leaving his face. "you never denied it."
"denied what?"
"me being good looking."
"pull your head out of your ass." you laughed, shaking your head at him. "you're not all that."
that was a lie, he was breathtakingly handsome, but he already knew that and you weren't about to feed his ego.
"ouch that hurts." he said, holding his chest dramatically.
"haha, weak."
"am not!"
"are too!"
"am not!"
"are too!"
"you say it like you're a wrestling champion." he scoffed.
"oh sweetheart, i'm much better than a wrestling champion." you assured him.
"who's up their ass now?" he mumbled.
"hmm, still you. i have proof to go with my claims."
"you think you'd win a fight against me?" he asked you, skeptical.
"oh, not just one." i've done it before.
"one day i'll challenge you to a fight and you're going to regret it." he wanted but you only smiled.
"yeah yeah, we'll see who'll regret what."

"i can go from here, i know where the station is now, thank you for walking me." you smiled at him.
"ah, yeah. no problem." he responded and turned around to walk off but stopped for a moment. "and don't just follow any guy who offers to show you the way. what if i kidnapped you?"
"i told you i'm better than a wrestling champion."
kuroo only sighed. "stay safe." he told you before walking off.
you waited until he was out of sight to pull out your phone. you needed to find yourself a part time job around here, but before that, you had to fulfil your duty as a deity.
fallen deity or not, you still had the same responsibilities. it wasn't much, you just had to make sure people got their karma, that was easy enough. the tough part was avoiding meddling.
in the 300 years you spent on earth, you grew a soft spot for humans and couldn't help but intervene if something unnecessary was about to happen.
for example, it was happening right before your eyes at that very moment. a little girl was crossing the road with a truck approaching her at an alarming rate. you looked around, there was no one to be seen.
you turned your focus back to the girl and ran to her at your fastest pace, she was frozen in shock and had her eyes locked on the speeding truck as it charged towards her. she closed her eyes to brace herself but right before the truck made contact with the girl, you wrapped your arms around her protectively and the truck simply passed through the two of you as if you were ghosts.
you let go of her afterwards but she seemed to have lost consciousness from the scare. you picked the girl up in your arms and stood up, and that's when you spotted kuroo standing where you two had parted ways his phone in his hand and his mouth wide open.
you were wracking your brain for excuses to come up with, but you were interrupted when a lady came rushing over to you. "ohmygod my child! my precious baby! i'm so sorry, did she cause you any trouble?"
you shook your head with a soft smile and handed the girl over. "she was on the road and just barely missed a car driving at her. she's okay though, i think she just got scared."
the woman thanked you multiple times and you continuously told her it was no problem, but your eyes anxiously darted back to kuroo every so often to make sure he hadn't run away in fear yet.
he hadn't. in fact, he was making his way closer to you, but you didn't know if that was any better.
once the lady had left, you turned to face him, knowing you couldn't exactly avoid him forever. he was bound to find out soon anyway.
"what the fuck just happened?" he asked.
"did you see it?"
"yes."
"what explaining could put you at ease then? it's exactly what you saw." you shrugged.
"y- you- are you a witch?"
you almost choked on air. "a witch? oh heavens, no. kuroo tetsurou, i'm a goddess."
