Two subjects: History and Chemistry. Those very two subjects were the subjects, Kiyoko despised, just barely passing the topics. Japan, along with most Asian countries were advanced in their academic system, expecting calculus to be learnt in the eighth or tenth grade. Kiyoko just hated the two subjects. With chemistry, she could only remember half of the periodic elements hoping that more wouldn't be discovered by the time she dies and the complicated formulas with one particle to the friggin density. The history she couldn't even comprehend the dates and essays she seemed to take on well but multiple-choice questions she just circled b. And to her understanding, they were all dead!
Kiyoko slumped as she tried to remember why a reagent and transformation was necessary to synthesize the given compound element.
"Dammit, what's the formula for this element?!" she tapped her pencil on the table during her chemistry class as she heard her classmate beside her.
"Don't ask me anything, I'm no better than this than you are," she sighed looking to her female pupil.
"Oh, no I wasn't asking for help, I just wanted to congratulate you to advancing to nationals," the female chuckled as Kiyoko smiled.
"Thank you," she replied.
"Oh, the first one is Ph," she pointed her pencil on the formula.
"Thank you!' she shouted whispered.
---
"Kiyoko-chan!" Gou shouted as Kiyoko stopped smiling.
"hey, Gou," she formed a smile on her cherry lips.
"I was wondering if you can help me with my science homework for biology, I heard you nailed it last year," she said sheepishly.
"Of course, I can stay over if you like," she offered.
"really?! Thanks so much!" Gou hugged her as Kiyoko laughed hugging the second year.
"No problem," she replied as they made their way to the pool.
"So I heard you're going back to Australia after this year, Rin might as well," Gou mumbled
"Yeah," she said as she frowned looking at Gou's face, "Hey, what's wrong?"
"It's just that next year is going to be so different without you and the other senpais," she looks down.
"Hey," Kiyoko stops her putting her hands on her shoulder, "I promise to keep in contact with you as much as I can,"
---
"Hey, Mrs Matsuoka!" Kiyoko greeted as the lady in the apron only smiled.
"Kiyoko dear, please take a seat, I'm just finishing this off," she smiled as Kiyoko smiled at her generosity.
"You sure you don't need help?"
"No, please it's fine. Thank you so much for the offer though,"
Kiyoko sat as a familiar large black and white cat approached her.
"Hey Steve," she chuckled as she picked up the heavy cat as it purred.
"I'm home!" A voice came from the door as Kiyoko turned around to see Rin as his eyes widened seeing his girlfriend on the couch.
"Koko!" He smiled putting down his bag as he tackled Kiyoko making the cat hiss.
"Shut up Steve," he glared as he peppered kisses on her neck.
"Don't mean to Steve," Kiyoko pushed him off as she picked up the cat again.
"Koko! I give you all this affection and you love a cat more than me?!" He pouted.
"Debatable," she shrugged as Rin glared at the cat as it meowed.
"Aww so cute!" She giggled as she kneaded her fingers on the cat's belly.
"I'm hurt," he huffed as he crossed his arms childishly as the two females in the kitchen laughed.
"Hey, mum, hey Gou," he said still angry at the cat.
"Hey Rin, how's school?" His mother inquired sweetly as Rin continued to scowl at the cat.
"Fine,"
"Stop being such a big baby Rin!" Gou flicked his forehead as he yelped.
"Mum!" As his mother only whistles whilst continuing the cooking.
"Gou can we sell Steve? Not that he's worth-," as he felt a slap to the head yelping.
"OW!"
"Steve is a part of the family you cruel being! I'm not sure how Kiyoko deals with you!" she shouted as Kiyoko sighed putting the cat down.
"come here you dummy," Kiyoko said as Rin instantly jumped from the other side of the couch to her's resting his head on under her's wrapping his arms around her waist and then sticking his tongue out to the uninterested cat.
"you're a baby you know that right?"
"I'm your baby, right? Unless of course-,"
Kiyoko slapped his head glaring at him.
"Oi! You're marrying me first!"
"That's already something I'm not worrying about," he said pridefully.
"You win gold at the Olympics first," she sighed.
"Tch got that in the bag,"
"I'm not sure your ego takes up a lot of space," she retorted.
"Yeah, but think about it wouldn't our kids-,"
"Kou!" Kiyoko looked to the maroon second year giggling.
"I'm sorry Kiyoko-senpai but I want to be an aunt, I'm hoping it doesn't get named a boyish girl name or a girlish boy name," She looked at her mum who only chuckled, "Oh! It can be an English and Japanese name like-,"
"Kou!"
"We could have a boy and a girl~," Rin smirked
"Mrs Matsuoka!" Looking at her only hope.
"I want to have grandkids," she simply chuckled as she checked the rice pot.
"you are worse than my mother," she glared at Rin who only had a cheeky smile plastered on his face, "Screw you,"
"Gladly," as Kiyoko pushed him off.
"I'm sorry! Koko, I'm only teasing!" he whined
"Dinner is ready," Mrs Matsuoka said bringing out the last dish as Kiyoko was hit by a wave of delicious scents.
"There's prawns and noodles! Sashimi! Oh my god, are those... scallops?!" Her eyes widen as she mentally drooled at all the food bestowed on the table.
"They were on special at the market," she chuckled.
"I'm overwhelmed," Kiyoko said, "It smells delicious,"
"Have whatever you like Kiyoko, Rin here usually scoffs everything,' as Rin flushes in embarrassment.
After giving thanks Kiyoko waited for someone else to grab the first dish and then petitely grabbing one serving of the noodles.
"So Koko what brings you here, not that I'm complaining," he winked.
"I'm here to help Kou with her biology homework," she replied.
"Biology, yeah I suck at that," he shuddered as he put food into his mouth.
"So Kiyoko your parents are still in Australia, your father owns a small business if I'm right from some of Rin letters," she asked
"Yes," she nodded.
"And your mother is Japanese, her name is Kate right?" she asked as Rin chocked a little on his water.
"Um, my birth mother is Japanese, my step-mother is named Kate," she confirmed.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to offend you," she apologised.
"No, no it's alright really. It was a long time ago. Kate came into my life when I was ten and has treated me more than I deserve. My mother was an ocean geographer and her research lead her to Iwatobi for a few days. She was one of the people that succumbed to the typhoon as well," Kiyoko explained calmly as Mrs Matsuoka's eyes softened.
"I lost my husband that day too," Miyako said as Gou and Rin froze remembering the last moments they had with their father, "Rin just turned seven, and Gou was still five,"
"Mrs Matsuoka-,'
"I'm sorry for bringing this all on you all of a sudden,' She wiped her tears.
"No, no its alright,"
"Remember when dad lifted showed us that medal when he won it at that relay?" Gou said easing up the tension, "You wouldn't give me a turn," Gou pouted as Rin chuckled.
"Hey, I've got my own now," he chuckled.
---
"So you just got remember that the tendons are the contractions of the bones and I think your all set," Kiyoko said as Gou nodded looking at all of Kiyoko's old notes.
"Your notes are all so vividly detailed yet so easy to read and understand!" Gou told, "The highlighters are really easy to read and understand, and your drawings and diagrams make it vivid to remember,"
"Kiyoko back in Australia was an aesthetic freak, all her pages were so aesthetically pleasing and neat," Rin added overlooking the work in front of them.
"What can I say, art gets the best of me?" She shrugged.
---
"Oni-chan! Stop stealing Kiyoko from me again!" Gou cried putting her hands on her hips.
"Nope! Koko is sleeping in my room! My girlfriend that's final," he smirked as he picked up Kiyoko and put her over his shoulder.
"Sorry, Gou," Kiyoko implored as she was carried to Rin's room where she was put on the black bed.
"here you are beautiful, feel free to take a look around while I go brush my teeth," he pecked her cheek then leaving. Kiyoko chuckling at Rin's maturity only looked through her bag as her breath hitched. She had forgotten to bring her top when she was packing and accidentally brought two pairs of shorts. Turning to the Rin's draws she debated in her mind.
"Rin won't mind," she muttered as she went through his clothes.
"Black, white, black, purple, more black, why do they all have such a low v-neckline?" she sighed picking one.
"Koko~, oh my god!" he babbled as he looked at his girlfriend looking at him with a glare.
"Eyes up hear buddy," she said as his face turned and then forming into a smirk, "rin, I swear on Ian Thorpe-," she was interrupted by a low wolf whitsle
"Rin!"
"Can I take a photo?"
"do you want me to break your phone?"
"Aw beautiful," Rin slyly snaked his arms around her waist kissing her neck as she yelped.
"Rin! Your teeth are so frickin sharp!" she scowled.
"But I can't help it! And you look so pretty with my clothes on," he bragged.
"About that why do your shirts have so much cleavage?!" she asked as sweatdrop as Rin only continued to display affection near her collarbone.
"Rin! Can you find me a shirt with a less revealing neckline,"
"But I like you with-,"
"If you do you can make it your wallpaper," she convinced as Rin nodded finding a shirt as he threw a black shirt to Kiyoko as she inspected it.
"I've literally never seen you wear this shirt, and it has a normal boating neckline," she raised a brow.
"can't fit me,' he shrugged.
---
"Koko, why are you still awake?" Rin asked sweetly he looked down rubbing her back, their legs tangled and intertwined.
"Just thinking," she replied
"do you want to tell me about it?" he inquired
"Just thinking about Haru, how he's hit his wall. Mako texted me that the two sought of had a disagreement," she said
"I see," Rin sighed as he thought, "Remember back in Australia how I hit my wall?"
"yes,"
"I remember when I first discovered my wall, it was like my first punch to the stomach. But you were there for me Koko, one of the millions of reasons I fell in love with you,'
"your so cheesy," she chuckled
"you love it," he winked
"Yeah, I do,' she admitted.
"I remember you came to my house and I was so confused. You asked Lori and Russel to drive us to Bondi Beach to see it for the first time. At first, I wondered why cause it was just a beach-,'
"to which you were greatly proving wrong, Bondi Beach is the greatest beach in the world,"
"Eh, Iwatobi-,"
"Shut up,"
"fine, fine. When we rushed down the sand I was smiling so much. You forced me to take off my shoes and put them in the water. From then on whenever I was feeling down it was either me or both us going down to Bondi beach,"
"And having ice-cream at Ben and Jerry's," she added
"of course,' he laughed.
"So what are you intending Rin?" she raised a brow.
"Well if Japan can't help there's no doubt Australia can't help," he winked as Kiyoko shot up.
"Rin are you saying that..."
"Let's go to Australia,"
