in the mere view of taeyong's physique, he looked like he was doing pretty well with the moving on and coping stuff. but one month had passed and there he found himself crying in the middle of the night as his screen flashed a page where his ex-husband's face was seen along with another girl rumored to be his girlfriend.
jesus christ taeyong, just move on already. get over it it's been 10 years. he kept repeating inside his head.
but what was the page about? an article that was titled "prada's it boy, jeffrey jung, causes internet controversy with ysl's it girl, roseanne park" came in bold letters. taeyong swore he wouldn't read it, but he did.
the two were seen dating in paris during the weekend. roseanne's instagram post say a lot about their recent rendezvous. neither parties have denied the on-going rumors about their relationship. it seems like they are close to confirming their status. to know more about the real score between them, stay tuned to find out!
he tried so hard to fight it that his head was actually beginning to hurt. he looked at the ceiling where his skylight showed the stars twinkling in the night. my fear is finally happening. he thought. jaehyun has found someone else.
thinking this makes it a little hypocritical. taeyong had found another love before jaehyun. although it didn't work out because jaehyun was still occupying his heart, it hurts him to think that he's not the one for jaehyun anymore. he finally realized no one could get rid of him in that beating heart. no other tall guys, no other handsome faces, no other sweet words could ever replace him.
how could i fall this hard for that jerk? he cried. it's all over now. this is where he will finally move on. for real this time. because there's already someone else in jaehyun's life.
it's over, for real.
imagine taking 10 years to move from a guy you have three kids with? completely terrible feeling.
as taeyong felt another tear starting to build up, he blinked it away but it ended up falling down the sides of his face. he sighed for the nth time and decided to stand up. he fixed his hair first with lazy hands before reaching over to get his robe. he wore his furry black slippers and decided to get out his room.
he walked out, went straight to the stairs and proceeded to his kitchen. he didn't think anyone was there so he went straight for the fridge in the cold dark room.
the refrigerator light illuminated the place as he looked for something that would probably help him sleep. he was too occupied with moving things in his fridge that he didn't notice walking past his son in silky pajamas sitting on the counter with a glass of milk in hand.
he took out a half finished bottle of zinfandel and opened the cupboards for a glass. he poured the remaining of the bottle and stared at the glass filled with red. i guess you'll be the one putting me to sleep tonight. he thought to the glass of wine.
he held the glass by the stem but was stopped with a hand on his. the tiny little hand appeared to be his son's.
"papa, please don't." he pleaded. "i know you don't wanna end up this way."
his son's face resembled a child filled with worry. it's not the first time his eldest has seen him like this and even though he makes sure they don't see him alone with alcohol, his children have surely caught him a few times.
"sweetie what are you doing here? it's late." taeyong tried to take the empty glass of milk from his hand but his son already proceeded to put it in the sink and beat him to it. he, then, held his papa's hand again.
"papa, please stop drinking." the little boy softly said.
taeyong didn't even realize he's been doing it almost every night for the past week and his son has seen him whip out a bottle after another for a few of them. he sighed as he looked at his son's pleading eyes. this is not healthy for us anymore, i need to fix my mess. he thought.
he took the glass and bottle before he dumped the contents in the drain of the sink. he was pulled by the hand and directed to the chair. he sat there as his son stood in front of him.
without even noticing it, the small hand of his son landed softly on his face and was already wiping a tear away. he didn't mean to cry in front of any of his children. as much as possible, his children should only see the brighter side of him and this just wasn't it.
"i know you're hurting, papa. it's okay to cry, you know. we'll always be here to hug you."
he wasn't stupid. after reading the article of his dad and calling his twin over the phone, seeing his papa cry wouldn't be much of a surprise. this also hurt him. even his twin couldn't get him a proper answer about it as their dad didn't let them know as well. even johnny, their trusted friend, had no clue. this was completely unprecedented. they hoped they can fix this but after the revelation of a rumored girlfriend, their plan came crashing down.
the unknown plan was now ruined and was surely going to cause another trouble for the twins. it was a good thing they didn't involve sungchan with it.
"i'm sorry you had to see me like this, sweetheart. i'm so glad you're here to calm me down." taeyong sniffed and held his son's hand.
"we'll always be here papa. just promise us you won't ask the alcohol to be your companion."
taeyong inhaled deeply and hugged his son tightly. the warmth of his son's hug was different. "papa, we're your children. we'll help you through this." he added.
taeyong held his face and admired the beauty of his child. somehow, something was utterly different with him. "my sweet, sweet boy."
morning came. taeyong was all over the place trying to flip everything in his room. he's been at it since 6 in the morning. he tried going back and forth from the living room, to the kitchen, then back to his room.
crap, where did i put that damn journal? he thought to himself.
he checked under his bed, under the bedside table, through his shelves, in his dresser, in his close but to no luck. if i don't find it soon, my kids might have a better chance finding it faster.
and then he remembered his children. maybe they already found it. and so he walked out leaving his room a mess before going straight to his children's room.
meanwhile, sungchan woke up to the sound of whisper-shouting in their balcony. the slide door was open and his brother was going crazy over the phone.
"minhyung what are we gonna do? it doesn't seem like they're gonna fix this any time soon. papa was crying all night last night. how's dad doing?" he heard his brother say. what is happening?
"i know, this is messed up pretty bad. looks like our plan is not gonna work."
"if we abort the plan then how are we gonna explain why we switched places for the second time?"
what?
"minhyung, my classes are starting soon. if i don't get back to new york in time, you're gonna replace me as mark in school. and i'm telling you, there are serious bullies in that school."
sungchan was baffled. he quickly stood up to run to his brother out the balcony when he accidentally turned towards the open door. there, he saw his papa completely as perplexed as he is.
"alright tell me what you get from dad soon. but don't tell him we switched places yet. we still have to find a way to make this plan work. if not, then i guess we're both grounded for a year."
"great. take care of dad, minhyung-ah. see you soon."
when the call was dropped, the little boy proceeded to go back in the room where, to his surprise, his papa and sungchan were standing downright stupefied.
"papa..." he started, completely unable to form words of explanation.
"mark." it was now cold as ice, monotonous as it was. a major sign of disappointment.
"this isn't what it looks like." the boy stuttered.
"but you do know what it means, right?" his papa asked now with arms crossed. "i'm grounded." mark said with despair.
"you both are."
