taeyong didn't come close to the baby after that. he avoided the boss and the baby everytime he sees them. whenever the boss would call him in, he'd make it quick inside his office. he didn't dare look at the baby, but when he accidentally does, the baby's face would quickly turn sad.
all of a sudden, he was called to the ceo's office. he sighed one more time before composing himself. he then stood up and walked towards the door.
he knocked a few time before opening the big glass doors.
"yes, sir?"
he closed the door and walked towards the boss. he glanced at the ceo's son on the couch and quickly turned away when he saw his eyes.
"mr. lee, when's my flight to seattle?" jaehyun asks without looking at the man.
"tomorrow at noon, sir." taeyong said.
he heard a click of tongue from the boss before sighing. he looked uneasy and he leaned back his chair, looking at taeyong.
"i can't take taeyang with me because this is an emergent business trip. can you take care of him for the meantime?"
again, taeyong felt out of breath with what he heard. i've been avoiding your son, sir. can't you fucking see that? he wanted to say to his boss but he had no gut to do so. he felt shaky, his knees began to wobble but the ceo didn't notice. taeyong composed himself and gulped before replying.
"sir, i have to finish your weekly and monthly report. isn't there anyone else to look after your son?" he tried to find a reason to ditch the work.
"that's why i resorted to you. mom went to busan to visit my brother. jessica and krystal noona went to jeju. you're the only one i can trust. plus i think taeyang's comfortable with you." taeyong saw the frustration in jaehyun's eyes. and so he sighed and accepted.
"i'll take care of taeyang, sir."
"thank you, mr. lee. since i'm not gonna be here for a week or so, you don't have to bring taeyang in the office. instead, you'll stay at home." jaehyun said. great, so much for avoiding your son. he thought.
"i don't know until when will dad need me in seattle so as you take care of taeyang at home, you can do your work from there too. come by later so i can show you in the house, alright? or just go home and pack some of your stuff, then i'll pick you up and you can sleep the night."
but i didn't want to and he's my boss so whatever, i guess. he thought.
taeyong was almost done packing. he stuffed clothes in his small duffel bag and some toiletries he'll be needing in a much smaller bag. he was almost done when he heard a knock on his front door.
it shocked taeyong because he thought he'll just wait for his boss outside the building. he didn't want to let his boss enter his poorly furnished apartment. it shamed him, but his boss was already there so he had no choice.
he opened the door to be greeted with a tall, messy haired man in casual form. it was definitely new to the eye because for about 8 years, it's his first time seeing his boss in a more casual attire, specifically sweats and a black shirt.
"hey!" the man smiled widely. he seemed jolly. taeyong thought.
"mr. jung-- how did you know where i live?" taeyong asked, confused.
"i have your personal records, i know where my employees live. and please, we're not at work, call me jaehyun." the man ever so casually entered his apartment as if he's a relative of some kind. he checked out his secretary's place around and the boy quickly felt small with the man.
"nice place." he said.
"it's not. don't lie." taeyong responded back and jaehyun immediately shut up. "my place is small and you won't see a lot of lavish furnitures but i keep it clean, and that's the only asset. please sit, do want anything to drink, sir?"
"ahh taeyong, i said call me jaehyun. we're not at work." he said sitting down. "you don't have to get me anything. just finish what you're doing." he smiled that left the boy to blush.
damn that frickin smile. he cursed in his head. he then proceeded to his room and left the door open to not make his boss uncomfortable.
he continued to pack up his clothes and other necessities. he folded, arranged, and neatly set his belongings in a nice order. he was well-organized, to say. he closed up his bag and walked out the door.
"are you okay living here?"
suddenly, his boss spoke from the couch not far from him. he looked at how his boss looked around. he didn't mean to belittle his secretary but taeyong must've misinterpreted it. anyway, he didn't say anything about it and continued conversing with his ceo.
"it's fine, i guess. shall we go now, sir?" he spoke as he walked towards his front door.
jaehyun stood up and walked ahead of taeyong. he watched as he locked the door before walking towards the elevator.
"is it even worth the pay? i mean, i think i saw the landlord in the ground floor, she was collecting payments and i heard one of the tenants arguing that she's in debt because of how high the rent was. i was pretty sure she left after that." jaehyun laughed and taeyong did the same as the elevator door closed.
"yeah it isn't. they're right though, i lived here since i started working under you, the pay is high and it's unworthy even. sometimes, there's no water, sometimes the lights just go out all of a sudden. but i have no choice, i can't find anywhere else to stay in and that has lower prices than this."
suddenly, jaehyun felt so much pity with the man beside him.
"i pay you enough, where does it go?" jaehyun asks.
"i send it to my family, my nephew needed to finish school and my sister's greedy enough to take all of what i send there. sometimes, i just send the money to whoever's available that's not my sister, so they can pay for my nephew's school instead. i'm actually in a fight with my family right now, i'm just starting to make it up to them."
jaehyun creased his forehead as he heard the man. a fight with his family? he thought. he shrugged it off and continued the conversation.
"tough family. do you even keep some of the money for yourself?" he asks.
"some of it. just for food and my bill. but when there's remaining that i could add to my nephew, i just give it to him instead."
wow. it was all jaehyun could think about.
they reached the ceo's house and he was already in awe with the exterior of his property. it wasn't as big as a whole mansion that other rich entrepreneur has, but taeyong knows that because he knew jaehyun very well. yet it was marvelous for taeyong. his apartment was nothing compared to what his boss has.
they stopped beside a staircase and a black door with it. the boss got out and so taeyong thought it's time for him to go as well. but the door opened for him and he saw jaehyun holding it.
"welcome to my house." he smiled and closed the door. "i'll ask the maids to take your bags for you, for now let's have dinner. i'm sure you haven't eaten." jaehyun took taeyong up the front door.
"you own all of this, sir?" he asks as he looked around. everything was clean, it's all white and gold. but why is it all white and gold? this isn't mr. jung's style. he thought.
"no. this is my parents'. i live with them. i guess right now i don't. because they're out of town all the time. my brother lives basically overseas now because of unending promotions, and krystal noona lives with his boyfriend, and you know my sister jessica lives in new york. so i'm alone here with taeyang and the servants." he explained as they got in the kitchen.
ahh that explains it. if this was owned by him, it would be all different. he thought to himself.
suddenly, the baby was brought by a maid coming from out of nowhere. when jaehyun saw his son, the baby quickly made grabby hands to the man. "dada!"
"hey baby!"
it shocked taeyong to see his boss this way. sure, he saw him with the baby countless of times inside the office, but this was their home. seeing the father and son felt homey for taeyong. it's like seeing his own family.
the child saw him and a smile quickly appeared across his face. "mama!"
taeyong's heartbeat quickly sped up and his eyes widened in shock. but jaehyun just thought the baby was being playful. and so he laughed, "no baby, that's uncle taeyong, your uncle yongie remember?"
the baby was placed in a high chair and the two men were seated beside each other for the dinner. truly, it was like they're a family.
after dinner, jaehyun toured his secretary around the house. it wasn't that big so it was easy to remember. "i leave early tomorrow so i'll show you around now." he said.
when taeyong reached the ceo's room, it made so much sense now. his walls were black, the floor and his dresser were a shade of black as well. the sheets were contrast to the color of the room as it is brown. there's also a bathroom not too far from it. his curtains were a shade of gray to black that would most likely block the sun when he wakes.
now this is more likely to be jaehyun. he said inside his head.
"taeyang sleeps here with me. he doesn't like it when he sleeps alone. he has his own room next to mine, sometimes we sleep there. you're room will be across the hall, and since i need you to sleep with taeyang, you can either sleep in his room or your room or even here."
alright, so much for avoiding everything, huh? he thought.
