in the next 2 days, taeil called the ceo and asked for him in the hospital. it was obvious in the doctor's voice that he was nervous with the result for the man. he doesn't know if this was a good sign or not.

when jaehyun arrived, his knees were almost wobbling. he was terrified with the results. he didn't let his mom know he was coming in today. he was fine handling whatever the result is on his own.

"hi, i have an appointment for dr. moon taeil, it's jung jaehyun."

he reached the receptionist from taeil's clinic and held on tight on the edge of the marble counter. his fingers were tapping impatiently and his foot did the same. "ahh mr. jung. you may enter, dr. moon's waiting for you."

he fixed his coat before walking towards the glass doors. he opened them with shaking hands and there, he met with taeil's eyes from across the room.

"jae, i've been waiting for you." he said as he closed the chart he was reading.

"yeah, i kinda wasn't ready then. but here i am now." he sighed before sitting in front of his doctor friend.

"if you're still not ready, we can postpone. you can come back to—"

"no, i wanna do it now. just to get this over with." he said with authority.

taeil looks like he wasn't sure if he should give jaehyun the results. after all, he cares for his friend. but it's what the patient wants. he sighed silently and dug into one of his drawers. he pulled out a folder and placed it on the table.

by the look on his face, jaehyun wasn't sure if it portrayed a negative or positive result in the papers. but taeil was hiding pretty good.

he slid the folder towards his side of the table and carefully opened the file. what he saw shattered him whole.

"so i'm his dad."

it was everything he could only say. he felt like his face drained all the blood out of it. he went pale and his brain was buffering. i'm not ready. he thought.

"jae, you okay?"

he faced the doctor slowly. his smile was unknowing. he couldn't even figure out how he should react himself.

"i'm a dad, taeil."

as he got home, he was met with his mom in his living room. his nose quickly hurt as he tried to forcefully hold back his tears. along with his nose, his forehead hurt as well.

"so? how'd it go?" his mom asked.

the baby was carried by her and a towel hanging by her shoulders. the baby was adorably releasing saliva and it was cute for him.

he dropped his satchel down the couch and silently let out his tears in front of his mom. he sniffed and his mom already felt the burden in her heart seeing her son cry. "oh honey..."

jaehyun gestured her to not say anything and wiped out his tears. he carried the baby out of his mother's grip as well as the bib hanging from her shoulders.

he tried his hardest to smile through the tears and coo at the baby he held. he started walking away from his mother and up the stairs.

"hey baby. i'm your daddy. daddy jaehyun..."

as his voice faded, his mother sighed and stared as his son walked away. she thought of putting the baby for adoption or just finding a nanny for the baby. but either way, she couldn't do anything about it.

jaehyun opened his door and opened his lights. he settled the baby down his bed and wiped the continuous tears flowing from his eyes. his coat was later thrown down the edge of the bed. he looked at the baby and sighed with a smile.

let's just suck it up. it's what i get for being so careless. he thought.

he laid down the bed with the baby beside him and gently kissed his hand. slowly, he put the baby on his chest and kissed his head.

"i'm gonna love you without your supposed mom. i'll make sure i'll provide whatever you need and make you feel loved. i'm gonna love you, remember that, okay? daddy's gonna love you even if he gets tired." he whispered.

suddenly, his phone went off. the ringing could wake the baby up so he tried to reach for it inside his pocket as fast and as discreet as he can. when he saw the caller id, his heart went thumping, fast. he quickly accepted the call and hoped for a good news.

"hello?"

"mr. jung? hey, it's your favorite secretary. i'm coming back tomorrow!"
